Ninja Saviors. I’ll keep saying it. Ninja Saviors. Great reminder, I keep wanting to buy it based on your article but it never goes on sale... I still remember blindly grabbing Nex Machina after reading your recommendation, haven't regretted that one! :P Capcom Beat 'Em Up Bundle is looking very te...

Re: Whatcha Been Playing?
The inability to avoid attacks is grating more and more the further I get. [...] there don't really seem to be many tactical options at my disposal? If you see them coming, you can dodge out of the way of most attacks by either moving vertically (up/down) or jumping away. If all else fails, the def...

Re: Whatcha Been Playing?
there's something that gets under my skin a bit about repeatedly seeing an attack coming, then having half a second to wait for it to land with no way of avoiding it no matter what I do. If you see them coming, you can dodge out of the way of most attacks by either moving vertically (up/down) or ju...

Re: Whatcha Been Playing?
I'm enjoying Streets of Rage 4 as well, but is anyone else finding the character movement a little... sluggish? Perhaps that's faithful to the genre, but I'm finding myself a little frustrated by the apparent lack of a 'dash' or a 'block/parry' button. I think that's just a staple of the genre, rea...

Re: What's Out This Week?
I gotta say, as somebody who's not really into old-school 2D beat 'em ups, SoR4 sounds pretty enticing.
EDIT: Bought!

Best thread on the internet.

Re: Final Fantasy VI
My understanding is that they remade a lot of the sprites for the mobile and Steam version. The new ones look significantly worse imo, I'll be sticking with the SNES version when I get around to playing it. On the flipside, the SNES version is meant to have a worse translation in comparison to the G...

I don't think your devotion to all sorts of old-school Nintendo hardware will ever stop being extremely endearing.

Re: What's Out This Week?
Have you played a Ys game before? As a matter of fact, I played a bit of Ys Origin a few years ago and we had a lovely conversation about it afterwards. And I have also taken your numerous Oath In Felghana recommendations over the years under advisement! :P Bought it on GoG, just waiting for a rain...

Re: Final Fantasy VII Remake
I honestly struggle to think of a single game more deserving of a faithful HD widescreen remaster than Final Fantasy VII, and I don’t think there’s anything wrong with wishing thats what we had got instead of… whatever Remake is (glad lots of people are enjoying it, but its not for me). ...As a fel...

Re: The Nintendo news and discussion thread
I just turned my Wii U on for the first time in months and it reminded me of how much I actually like it. Incredibly quiet and compact, ludicrous Pro Controller battery charge, great UI, not to mention the excellent Virtual Console lineup and how cool it is to basically have an entire Wii built into...

Re: JoyCon Drift
Really ?! I've never heard or come across either myself or know of anyone that has had faulty 360 sticks. Back in my Halo days, I had to buy a new controller at least once a year because the drift had become really noticeable by then. This was 100% a problem. I also had one 360 stick become really ...

Re: JoyCon Drift
Am I being unfair in thinking that controller issues across the board have been much more prevalent this gen? Between DS4 batteries and thumbstick grips, Xbox Elite grips and Switch analogue sticks, it feels like everyone's got problems. Yes and no. Battery problems have certainly gotten worse cons...

Wasn't meant like that! Absolutely nothing wrong with being excited about cool new tech in and of itself. A lot of it goes straight over my head but more power to them.

Re: The Sony news and discussion thread
No, what I meant by that is that the percentage of players who genuinely care about the type of gameplay intricacies I'm attracted to is being completely dwarfed by the percentage of players who spend all day fantasizing about multi-terabyte RAMs and dodo feather cooling systems.
