Re: All things Fire Emblem

Is this re-release of the first NES game worth playing? I tried it a while back when it came on the Japanese NES library on Switch, and didn't think much of it, but then again I don't speak or read Japanese... well, the remake is out there if you'd like to see, otherwise I think it depends on how o...

Re: World of Warcraft discussion

I can’t remember whether I started w/ Starcraft or Warcraft III, but I played them regularly in rotation as my mom’s computer couldn’t handle much beyond Starcraft. While I didn’t dive as deep into Starcraft as WCIII, I did enjoy my time. Blizzard, at their best, emanates an aura. It feels like they...

Re: Viewtiful Joe

I don’t have much to contribute here, and I never made it very far in these, but boy do I love Joe. His ending in TVC encapsulates his entire character – he’s sad he can’t hang out with the super sentai crew anymore! Someday, I hope to go back to the various games, seems like I really missed the boa...

Re: All things Fire Emblem

Oh, I have no doubt Fire Emblem has a bright future ahead - people bemoan their representation in Smash, and seem to ignore how successful the mobile game is when mario & co. basically flopped. Three Houses did gangbusters and such. Part of me wants to grab the collector's set and is motivated b...

What does a modern fighting game look like?

We’ve seen Capcom crash and burn with SFV and MVCI, so what keeps other fighting games afloat and what direction are they going in now? I think there are 3 camps – Triple A, B Tier, and indie. With triple A, we find they’re going all in on esports, and tend to be the most contentious. In the B tier,...

Re: All things Fire Emblem

I went over Three Houses on that specific thread, so I'll leave that for people to see there. But otherwise: Blazing Blade(First US game) I started with blazing blade, the first game those of us in the west got without importing. It wasn’t actually the introduction to FE, as many will note they appe...

Re: Overwatch

A lot of the VAs in Overwatch are the right nationality, especially the Egyptians. And for how bad Tracer’s cockney accent is... her VA is actually British. Likely was told to over emphasise it, the performances are not subtle for any of the cast. The VA performance that’s bothering me most at the ...

Re: Overwatch

Overwatch was really interesting in that the free weekend completely sold me. I jumped in, tried a number of things, but eventually rotated to Genji and racked up the POTGs. But as I’m guessing MMR adjusted to my level, those came less and less, which parellels my enthusiasm for the game, I’d say. I...

The fun part of being a patient gamer is when you DO make that leap to next gen, it looks that much better. Probably a cane and rinse credo, definitely a r/patientgamers one

Re: Are you genuinely excited for Xbox Series X|S & PS5?

M$'s approach to this generation is interesting. While they've taken quite a beating from Sony, their latest plays have been HUGE - aquiring bethesda, gamepass teaming up with EA, "no generations" etc. We've seen Sony be cocky and complacent and pay for it before, so it really could go eit...

Re: All things Shin Megami Tensei / Persona related

uhhh if anyone's playing P5R, i was just listening to FCasuals, and they said: don't read if you don't want ANYTHING spoiled for Royal, but it's a cautionary thing on how to access the new content Also, you get DLC stuff for free if you have royal. Didn't know till NG+. Looking at some of these pers...

Re: Final Fantasy I - XV

no i haven't...I do plan on touching the FFs as I have for a long, long time. I WAS playing 10, but my ps3 broke. Right now I'm not hurting for games at all but job systems in V puts it more favorably in my books, yeah.

Legends of Runeterra

I jumped off the LOL train a long time ago, in part because of the design ethos behind that game, but also because my taste in games was changing, period. But to focus on the relevant parts of that, I jumped off of LOL and went to DOTA 2 and never looked back – with Riot’s design, it was publically ...

Re: The Nintendo news and discussion thread

Correct. That's the second M$ property, and (put on your conspiracy theory hats) they had to redesign every stage to make MineBoy work. Don't know whether that's Nintendo's perfectionism, Sakurai's tendency to overwork himself, or a mix of both. Wow.
