Re: The Shenmue trilogy

I’m nearing the end of the sequel (I think) as it seems to be ramping up in difficulty. I hate the QTE variant they have introduced in the sequel. It is awful. Who decided it was a good idea to put multiple QTEs in one of the most difficult boss fights. I haven’t felt this furious since heavenly sw...

Re: Whatcha Been Playing?

Making progress in Call of Cthulhu: Dark Corners of the Earth for the podcast. Really interesting how the game keeps on shifting focus, from pure adventuring and clue seeking, to stealth, to shooting. It's all a bit shaky, but I'm digging the atmosphere and there are some truly freaky and disturbin...

Re: Pokemon Go

That would be great thanks.

I think I’ve ploughed more time into this than anything else over the last year or so! Every commute it’s on in the background.

Re: Game suggestions for the podcast

That would be a LOT to cover (Pinball Arcade and Pinball FX have a couple of hundred tables between them), and I don’t think we have any real life pinball afficionados among us. I’ve enjoyed a lot of pinball videogames over the years though. I know. Maybe an era perhaps? It’s not necessarily someth...

Re: The Shenmue trilogy

I'm a couple of hours in to the first game and enjoying it so far. It's slow, ponderous and the controls are terrible, but it's still getting a pass at this point. One thing that irks me, as usual, is that no thought has been given to remote play. The back pad of the Vita has been used for run and ...

Re: Whatcha Been Playing?

Otherwise I'm finally playing Dead Space after several previous attempts to get into it, I think I'm probably a third of the way through. Sweet! I feel the urge to replay the series at some point in the near future. Are you enjoying it so far? I replayed it last year and it still holds up Same. If ...

No I haven’t. I’m not sure how I would play it unless it’s on a mega drive collection (or via emulation)

Pinball special?

Pokemon Go

Apologies for lowering the tone but I’m in need of some pokemon go friends for the most recent research quest line. The game has forced me to make 3 new friends and given I’ve got everyone I know who can still be bothered to play it as a friend already I’m stuck. My friend code is: 2361 9869 2448 So...

Re: The Shenmue trilogy

I think I’m pretty far into the sequel and I must say this is everything I thought Shenmue was supposed to be. I’m absolutely enthralled. There are several quality of life improvements and the ability to ask passers by for directions and them to point the way or even take you there themselves is gen...

They were fantastic. I suspect they aren’t quite as amazing as I remember but would be a great excuse to go back

Re: Our next podcast recording (3.9.18) - 335: Ghosts ‘n Goblins (Makaimura)

On the whole I generally like to post on the podcast thread when I have finished a game but in this instance I admit defeat. I have started this more times than I care to remember and each time have been defeated at an early hurdle. Even clearing the first area was an accomplishment. Ive always view...

Re: The Shenmue trilogy

Word of warning. There’s a bug which sometimes occurs whereby there is no option to save your clear data after the credits. This happened to me and I’m not alone. This means I either go back and do the final few sequences again or start the sequel with a generic save. Apparently if you try and skip ...

Re: The Shenmue trilogy

Going to wait till just before 3 comes out then replay 1 and 2. Cannot believe I have not bought them already but become wrapped up in Yakuza I think the yakuza series has skewed my perspective of Shenmue completely. It’s taken nearly all the much lauded features and improved every one. I can see w...

Re: The Shenmue trilogy

Having never played a Shenmue game I’m left feeling like I’m missing the point. Rather than spending time with the mini games I’m opening the watch in the menu and doing something else until the clock reaches the correct time. The side quests and distractions are just a bit too superfluous for me. I...

Re: Gaming Storage Solutions

I’d be really interested to know how your set up still fairs one year on. I think this could potentially solve a whole load of arguments in my house! We don’t have a natural spot for the television in our living room so having something along those lines could be a godsend.
