Re: Metroid Speedruns
I watched some of the recent stream and it was devasting some of the bad luck you were getting at times. The RNG was really unfair. Sub-40 next time, I'm sure of it! Maybe I'm old fashioned, but I'm not a fan of glitches being part of speedruns. I know a lot of these take skill to perform, but it's ...

Re: Let's rank our top 5 Pixar films for no reason at all
1. Toy Story One of the most important films ever made. I was blown away the first time I saw this and it should be the template of how to write a screenplay, as it's the perfect length and everything hits the mark. The cast is fantastic and it's still incredible to look at today. 2. Toy Story 2 Thi...

Re: Whatcha Been Watching?
The new Candyman is great. It's basically just ACAB: The movie. It's a little on the nose at times (especially the final act), but I like how they recontexualised racist murders in American history to add into the lore of the character. I'm curious to see if they do another, but I think this stands ...

Re: First or memorable platinums / 100% achievements
Nier: Automata was a memorable one for me, mainly because you could basically buy the trophies with in-game currency once you hit a certain point. I can't remember who said it, but I agree with the point that by even doing it this way you're still earning them as to gain that amount of money in the...

k1oovfIx-CQ Live now. So much fun doing this. So many more clears to do as well. Great work! I saw your name on the speedrun table after this run. Is this a new focus for you now? I know speedruns take an insane amount of dedication, but it would be great if someone I actually watch reguarly moves ...

Re: The Street Fighter thread
After skipping out on Street Fighter IV as I was waiting for the final edition and by the time it came out I had other things going on, I finally played the Ultra version for the first time yesterday. At first I felt a little lost without the V triggers (I had picked up the fifth one in a sale years...

Re: Games Completed 2021
I finished every part of Root Letter: Last Answer today. I guess I shouldn't complain that this is a visual novel that clocks in at about 10 hours, but I found the main story very shallow. The game was sold to me as a murder mystery where you're uncovering this hidden past event, but when you find o...

Re: Books completed (and general book talk)
I finished The Devil and the Dark Water by Stuart Turton a few days ago. His first book, The Seven Deaths of Evelyn Hardcastle , is one of my favourite modern books and uses the now popular timeloop structure to perfection. Whereas Evelyn Hardcastle felt like a book with a video game structure, his ...

With Xbox allowing game streaming via browser, I recently gave Slay The Spire a quick go, aiming to try out both the streaming service and the touch controls. and I may have become just a little hooked on this game ... Right at the moment, I know that if I switch it on, I'll absolutely fall into th...

Re: Whatcha Been Watching?
Apart from that, recently I re-watched "The Death of Stalin" because I hadn't watched it in a while. And I forgot how brilliant it is because I then almost immediately watched it again. That cast is to die for. And (I'll spoiler tag although it does feel a bit odd to do a spoiler warning ...

Re: Whatcha Been Playing?
Resident Evil Village. Just finished it last night. I can see what people mean when it felt like a step back. Biohazard did an excellent job in bringing back the horror and did so much with so little, whereas this felt like an attempt to remake the fourth game. Not to say it was bad, I actually lik...

Re: Do you binge play video games or take your time?
Depends on the game really. Mostly I'll run through quickly for story reasons. I'm currently playing through Resident Evil Village and it's breezing through it, mostly because I want to know what happens next. Also open world exploring games like Just Cause , because I feel like I just lose so much ...

I really like the idea of this and it looks great, if I had the money to spare I'd pick one up for sure. I'm interested to hear the feedback on it.

Does Bruce Willis turn up at the end and do that bulldog-licking-piss-off-a-nettle face he only seems capable of doing these days?

Re: Whatcha Been Watching?
Unrelated boring "Midsommar" anecdote: none of my IRL love horror films so I always have to go and see them alone. But my fashion aesthetic/general vibe is very... uh... twee? Girly? Not... horror-y? My friend had to ban me from dog and cat rescue websites because I would read all the des...

Re: Whatcha Been Watching?
Oh no now I'm worried that I've become horribly desensitised :P :P Maybe "gorier" wasn't the right word... "cartoonish"? "OTT"? Apart from one gruesome death involving what I can only assume is a bread slicer, it felt like most of the deaths were just whacks on the hea...

Re: Whatcha Been Watching?
You want these to be gorier?! I can't see how they can manage that without the BBFC rapping a few knuckles. I imagine if they got theatrical releases they'd have been toned down, so I'm thankful for that. About the leads, I just see them as normal, flawed kids. Usually the protagonist is a wholesome...

Re: Whatcha Been Playing?
I played through Last Day of June yesterday. It's a nice, short puzzle story game with a slight time loop mechanic in that you have to replay the same sequence with different characters to get the desired outcome. The ending actual made me gasp, as I really didn't expect it. The art style is unusual...

Re: The Euro 2020 Thread
Losing to the best team of the tournament in the final isn't a bad result, especially with it going right down to the final penalty. England were excellent in the first half, Italy were awful; but they seem to have swapped shirts for the second half. I believe if Chiesa didn't go off injured it woul...
