Re: Yoku's Island Express

It's often on sale, so if you're patient it can easily be had for cheap!

Re: 360: The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild

While I don't consider BotW to be the best Zelda of all time (I'm not even sure I'd consider it my favourite Zelda of the last decade) and I generally sympathise with all the usual complaints and frustrations leveled at it, I think it's easy to forget how stale the series was becoming prior to 2016,...

Re: Yoku's Island Express

I'm a big fan of Metroidvanias, but for some reason Axiom Verge didn't click with me.

For an entry-level Metroidvania you really can't go far wrong with either of the Steamworld Dig games. They are the gaming equivalent of comfort food for me (and are relatively easy to 100%).

Re: Yoku's Island Express

Played this just before xmas - liked it, but didn't love it, I played it to completion, but didn't feel at all compelled to 100% it - mainly because of how traversal works in the game. I often found that simply getting from A to B (while looking straightforward on the map) could often require taking...

Re: How do you feel about monetisation in games?

I'm also pretty old-school - I don't really do online multiplayer and pretty much exclusively play games on Switch, so almost never encounter these types of things, but I do find it bizarre and kind of amusing how furious certain sections of the gaming audience and media can get about it all. For in...

Re: Volume Eight

Having adored Banjo Kazooie, I could never understand at the time why playing DK64 felt like such a chore. I ploughed through it to completion but the whole time in the back of my head was 'why am I not enjoying this?'. I had the exact same experience with Banjo Tooie. I think it taught me an import...

Re: The Nintendo news and discussion thread

Yoshi's Crafted World is confirmed for March 29th 2019.

I'm actually really looking forward to New Super Mario Bros U Deluxe on Friday. I haven't played any of the NSMB games since the 3DS one, and never bothered with any of the Wii or Wii U ones.

Re: Volume Eight

I didn't notice Monkey Island 2, although I could have sworn it had already been done! Maybe it was just the first game before? Looks like the Mega Drive Aladdin from that artwork. As everyone knows, the SNES version is the far superior game 8-) I'll formulate a decent argument as soon as I finish ...

Re: Volume Eight

Looks like the Mega Drive Aladdin from that artwork. As everyone knows, the SNES version is the far superior game 8-) , but there's no doubt that the Mega Drive version is more iconic in terms of how big a deal it was at the time (and it will make for a more interesting discussion on the show). I'm ...

Re: The Nintendo news and discussion thread

Also, didn't Nintendo recently say that they were going to stop teasing and showcasing new games until they were relatively close to release (which is, I'm guessing, why we have heard virtually nothing about Metroid Prime 4)?

Re: Videogame News

Very much looking forward to Trials Rising. Been waiting for a Trials game on Switch since the console was released. Seems like such a perfect fit.

Re: The Sony news and discussion thread

Curious thing about the Classic - the 'power' light seems to be permanently illuminated orange while off. That wasn't the case with the original was it?

Re: The Sony news and discussion thread

I ended up holding on to mine precisely because they were able to hack it so quickly (though I'll definitely be waiting until they iron the bugs out before attempting anything myself). Booted my Classic up for the first time the other night, and man, the list of included games is even less appealing...

Re: Videogame News

Not to be overly hyperbolic, but the movie version of Sonic the Hedgehog looks like an absolute abomination. The proportions, the fur - it just looks horrible from a character design point of view imo.

Re: The Sony news and discussion thread

I cancelled my preorder, but must have left it too late, so the one I ordered is waiting for me when i get home (been out of the country for the last week). I was already pretty disappointed with the software lineup, and the inclusion of PAL versions of games was the last straw. I’m still holding ou...

Re: The Nintendo news and discussion thread

Anyone played the Switch port of Cities: Skylines? This game was one of my most-wanted ports for the Switch, so I was delighted to see it get surprise released a few months ago, but the bad word of mouth and $40 price tag put me off. However I'm starting to hear some backlash to the backlash, or an ...

Re: The Nintendo news and discussion thread

Admittedly the sale is probably a little more substantial in the US eShop vs the Europe one (I picked up Minit, Undertale, Wild Guns Reloaded and Dead Cells), but there's still some good bargains in there, especially if you've been waiting to pick up some of the big hitters like Mario Odyssey, BotW,...

Re: Videogame News

I think I heard somewhere that Sega will be putting out a new version of the Mega Drive/Genesis Classic next year - perhaps that will be an improvement over the notoriously shoddy past versions?
