Re: Whatcha Been Playing?
Wargroove , I've put this down I'm sad to say, it just gets too hard and greedy with your time at a point. I got to 3-3 and just keep getting trampled toward the end of an hour mission. Maybe I'll go back to it one day but at the moment, no, done. I’m about the same part and yeah - if a game doesn’...

Re: The Nintendo news and discussion thread
It’s one of things that to look at from a layman’s point of view it’s tough to see why X runs so well and Y doesn’t. Something like the Sexy Brutale doesn’t feel like it should really push the system too much, but it runs really poorly. I’m guessing it’s a mix of things - creative and smart hiding o...

I mean, it is the right time of year for it. Right now Nagasaki have a big lantern festival. Chinese New Year, innit.

Re: Whatcha Been Playing?
Been pushing through a few games on the Capcom Belt Scrolling Action Collection (the Beat Em up one) and blimey it’s just the right thing right now. A quick 30 minute blast of mostly mindless punching, great fun and they manage to change things up just to keep you pushing on (and back in the day pay...

Re: Whatcha Been Playing?
“Nintendo is finally making a game for adults!” is a tired argument that comes up time after time whenever they release a game that isn’t colourful and shiny. It happened in the GameCube era with things like Eternal Darkness. In the Wii era with Mad World. In the WIiU era with Bayonetta. In the Swit...

Can’t wait for the internet expecting Zelda and getting 25 minutes going in depth on the menus and settings available in the new Fire Emblem game.

It’s a drum I’ll keep beating forever but both the Goemon games on the N64 are great.

I guess guides online showing how to spot a fake help these guys too - they know what people are looking for and which areas to improve if they want to pass. That said, they’re probably banking on most people not caring enough to open up their carts to check for a Nintendo logo!

Wargroove is wonderful. Scratches that Advance War itch that’s been itching a long time now. Pixelwork is fab too.

Re: The Nintendo news and discussion thread
Amiibo are in a bit of a difficult place. Lock too much or too valued content behind them and people who haven’t bought them get annoyed (Megaman collection challenges, classic Zelda outfits in BoTW), but not doing *enough* with them and people who have bought them feel they haven’t got their money’...

Re: Retro gaming
Ooh... I want Balloon Fight as I had that as a bairn and somehow don't have it anymore. Major nostalgia for that. Just the normal one, not the weird "Crystal" one that's all expensive, I'd bet it's still pretty pricey though. Had a check today and no Balloon Fight, but I think all the Nin...

My favourite Game and Watch is the little proto-Switch.

Oof! That’s a nice Game and Watch! If you’re after any in particular just let me know the details. There’s a place with a lot of them nearby though maybe a bit of a dangerous rabbit hole to go down!

Volume eight looks fab - lots of welcome classics, a few surprises and a few games that have never clicked with me personally but I’m fascinated by. Good luck, guys!

Re: The Nintendo news and discussion thread
If you’ve got a Nintendo online subscription service of any region, you can also get the Japan only Famicom Joy Mecha fight this month too as well as Zelda II and Master Blaster. You’ll need the Famicom app from the Japanese store, but after you’ve downloaded it you can boot it up with any subscript...

Re: Whatcha Been Playing?
While I enjoyed Galaxy’s controls I’d say their implementation is far from essential - and in fact, there is an HD version without them! For the Chinese only version of the Nvidia shield you can pick up a few Wii releases including Mario Galaxy. The most interesting thing about the games is they’re ...

Re: Whatcha Been Playing?
I may be remembering way wrong, but I thought Metroid Prime had a fairly leinient lock on system? It’s much faster paced than the likes of Okami though, so I totally understand what you mean by fundamental designs - I have similar thoughts about people asking for Skyward Sword with regular controls....
