Re: Whatcha Been Playing?
Trying to play Nioh right now, I say trying as I'm struggling a little bit.I love the look and feel on the whole but toggling stance mid fight can be a pain as is the 'Ki pulse' mechanic - I find myself forgetting as I'm too engaged in the combat . I have a feeling that this will all come together ...

Re: Videogame News
It reminds me of Golden Sun? That was a game that didn't grab me story wise, but had gorgeous graphics and a nice soundtrack to go along with solid gameplay.

Re: Videogame News
It is a gorgeous game and the music is even better. Combat is neat and satisfying and the game opens up in terms of combat options and job classes and stuff. It seems to tick all the boxes. The story side is a bit underwhelming though, to my tastes, because it's eight self-contained individual thre...

Re: The videogame music thread (also Sound of Play submissions)
La Danse Macabre from Shovel Knight by Jake Kaufman pDGaqUskBRM All the levels in Shovel Knight have perfectly appropriate music to go with them, matching level design with atmosphere in a way that compliments the whole production and pays tribute to the NES adventures that came before. But, for me,...

I'm starting a new podcast called Three Nice Things, where we watch bad movies and then have to come up with three nice things to say about it! We're recording our first episodes this weekend and want to know, can you come up with a legitimate nice thing to say about the Super Mario Bros. movie or t...

Re: 369: Disney's Aladdin
I loved the SNES Aladdin when I was kid. It was one of my favorite movies then (and now) and it was a game I could play and beat fairly quickly, meaning I played through it a few times. In my later teen years, I found a copy of it and replayed it, surprised but how much I still enjoyed it. As a seve...

Re: Games Completed 2019
Ha yeah, I never went back to Blitzball either. Just never really got to grips with understanding how it worked, nor enjoyed the match I played. Your thoughts pretty much echo exactly how I felt about the game overall. I'm one of those sick people who enjoyed Blitzball and played it WAY too much du...

I'm excited for the Phoenix Wright games on Steam, for sure, but $30 is a bit high for me at the moment, will probably wait for a sale.
With Dangerous Driving, I'll definitely be taking that for a spin once I finished my replay of Burnout 3.

Re: Whatcha Been Playing?
That Namco bundle had Pac-Man Championship Edition DX for a dollar, so I picked it up and lost a whole bunch of time in it. It's addicting, for sure, but it's such a blast. And I'm not a score chaser most of the time, but I have a few Steam friends with the game and now I'm after their scores. I got...

Re: Videogame Deals
I don't know if anyone saw, but the Namco bundle over on the Humble store is pretty good. I got Pac-Man Championship Edition DX for the $1 tier, but if you want to go up to $25, you'll get Tekken 7.

Re: Games Completed 2019
I just completed the three campaigns in Shovel Knight. What a game. I enjoyed every minute of it, enough so that I played those levels and boss fights three times, with varying degrees of difference. I actually had a lot of fun with Specter Knight. I love a good wall jump. I'm glad the game lived u...

MAR - Final Fantasy X (PS Vita) Finished this a couple of days ago. Really enjoyed it, and the game had some fantastic systems. After completion I glanced over a guide and realised how much content there was I never even saw! Celestial Weapons, Chocobo racing, all sorts of stuff! Will post more tho...

Re: 367: DOOM (2016)
DOOM is one of the games that made me want to upgrade from my laptop to a real gaming PC and boy, was it worth it. I don't love gore and overly brutal violence...I used to be able to say. No matter how many times I was horrified by DOOM's glory kills, I still laughed like a maniac after every one an...

Re: Games Completed 2019
Finished The Last of Us. Good game, good story, not on my list of greatest games of all time, by any means. Maybe I just missed the boat on that one. Would never chastise anyone for thinking it is the best game ever, but I guess I wasn't blown away by the story or the telling of it. I did get a bit ...

Re: Whatcha Been Watching?
I saw Shazam last weekend. It was...fine. Nothing horribly wrong with it, just a bit inconsistent. I though Aquaman and Wonder Woman had a strong sense of self, but Shazam goes back and forth between tones. If you're interested, you should see it, for sure. I think one issue I had is I liked the mov...

Re: Whatcha Been Playing?
Sorry to go off topic, but do you need to have watched the other Xmen films before Logan? I fancied watching it, but never saw any of the hundred million or so other ones. In a lot of ways, the only X-Men movie Logan specifically mentions is the first movie and even that is blink and you miss it. H...

Honestly, I prefer new IP-based loving homages like Shovel Knight and The Messenger over certain series going backwards.
