Re: All things Yakuza (Ryū ga Gotoku)

Very frustrating time on Yakuza Kiwami last night. I got to a part where I'm escaping in a car having to shoot trucks and motorbikes in pursuit, and failed three times. Its really long, and there are no checkpoints. The worst part is that I hadn't saved it a while and there's no auto save, so I ant...

I had almost no problems with the OG Xbox version. I think it crashed once on me.

It runs quite well and is worth getting if you have no other options or you prefer playing on consoles.

Re: No Man's Sky

Tried my old save on PS4. The frame rate was abysmal, and I'm usually fine with 30fps.

If they patch it and make it more stable, I'll be willing to try it again.

Re: Our next Resident Evil podcast recording (29.7.18) - 330: Resident Evil Zero (Biohazard 0)

To me, RE0 is the last true RE game until the Revelations games came out for PS3/360. I think most of the complaints about the monsters are valid but I did like the disparity between Billy and Rebecca. Billy is your kind of stock action hero that you would see in a lot of games of the time, and Rebe...

Re: Octopath Traveler

The point stands that due to the structure of the game, in which each of the eight characters can be recruited (or not) in any order, the eight stories aren't really connected and there is no real interaction or dialogue between the eight characters that you might reasonably expect from a FF style ...

Someone pointed out on another forum (and I completely missed) that the character's names spell Octopath. (In the right order)

Re: Octopath Traveler

We don't pick on genres, platforms or pretty much anything here at Cane and Rinse and with the current dedication to playing the entire numbered series of Final Fantasy games with our podcasts I think you'll find that we take each and every game and judge it fairly and honestly. We're not here to &...

Re: Octopath Traveler

ThirdDrawing, as I said above, it is absolutely not the reviewer’s choice when the review is published. Please believe me when I tell you that 99% of reviewers would much rather have adequate time to play a game properly and consider their experience before committing words. Unfortunately the reali...

Re: 349: Resident Evil 7: Biohazard (Biohazard 7: Resident Evil)

Well, at the risk of derailing the thread I'll ask whether you considered the original Resident Evil games scary? I mean they weren't really, were they. And I guess horror is as subjective as comedy, or taste in music. I found the demo at least of Resi7 to be scary enough. I'm certainly not trying ...

Re: Octopath Traveler

It’s not really laziness for the most part, it’s simply incredibly rare that a reviewer will have a copy of a game far enough ahead of time - or be given enough time to complete an intensive game - before publishing/embargo deadline. The demand for day one reviews from PRs and public is at least as...

Re: Octopath Traveler

I almost cancelled my preorder after reading the Kotaku review, which was overwhelmingly negative - the main criticisms being that the game is repetitive and grind-heavy, but also that there is no overall sweeping story to the game - the 8 characters all have entirely separate storylines and there ...

And that's my entire problem with the game - why would you make a horror game that's not scary?

Octopath Traveler

Just wondering if anyone else has picked this up. The word on the street seems to be quite positive. I am about five hours in and have just met my third party member. The graphics are lovely. The music is gorgeous, as in actually order the soundtrack gorgeous. Combat is fun and fairly intuitive. If ...

Re: 349: Resident Evil 7: Biohazard (Biohazard 7: Resident Evil)

I have no interest in bad Rob Zombie movie knockoffs, so I didn't play this game. Unsure of who you're slating here? Rob Zombie as in his films are knockoffs of classic horror movies? Or Resident Evil because the setting is a knockoff of The Devils Rejects? Maybe both? Either way its an odd stance,...

Re: E3 2018 - Conference times and general chat

Oh Nintendo. No real surprises at all - there were games announced, I acknowledge that however. I actually kind of wish they had had Smash as a separate direct and spent more time showing the stuff they showed in the quick montage. I am impressed with the work they're doing on Smash though and the ...

I think Ghosts of Tsushima looks great, but I agree with Alex79uk that the Sony conference was disappointing. Last of Us - again. Ghosts - again Death Stranding - again Kingdom Hearts - again Spider-man - again It's been the same bloody games for the last 3 years. Show something new! I wasn't intere...
