Re: Resident Evil 4 (2023)
Just made it through to Chapter 6. Really enjoying it so far. I'm taking it slow and admiring the gorgeous scenery. I love how every time I'm feeling a bit more confident, the game will throw something new at me, or crank up the intensity. Only minor issue I experienced is an apparently common one, ...

Re: Whatcha Been Playing?
I'd agree on Crash 4 getting hard. Never tried Stormy Ascent but I'd be interested to hear how it compares to this game. The last few levels, especially the last one, are absolutely devious. It's a decent game though. I'd also agree on Luigi's Mansion 3 being a bit boring. I played it a few times an...

Re: Whatcha Been Playing?
I've been playing some more Demon's Souls after Gears. I'm still feeling some Souls fatigue, but I'm also enjoying it more than I expected. The level design is really good, dense and full of branching paths and shortcuts, and very challenging in terms of its checkpointing. I love that aspect of Soul...

Re: Resident Evil 4 (2023)
Played through the demo yesterday on PS5 and really enjoyed it! Looks amazing, runs smoothly and feels great. Movement and shooting have weight without feeling overly cumbersome. The village section is really well done, very intense and made me aware of my limitations, both with the controls and bei...

Great post, that's really useful. I'll keep that in mind when I look to purchase.

Re: Hi-Fi Rush
I've played four stages so far. I did find it a little odd at first, as Alex says the actions not matching your button presses exactly. I started finding the rhythm more yesterday evening though and couldn't stop playing it. It's been in my head all day. I haven't found the music or jokes irritating...

Re: Games Completed 2023
I don't mind what they do next, whatever pleases them, but I feel sated by 'what FROM do'. I don't particularly need or look forward to whatever they do next. I feel ER was a peak - even if not my favourite - and it was so rich and detailed and full of 'stuff' that I don't have any hunger or appeti...

Re: Hi-Fi Rush
I want to give it a go soon. My brother's been badgering me about playing Cyberpunk so I want to put some time into that first. The rhythm aspect could make or break it for me, we'll see. I didn't get on with Metal Hellsinger either, but I'm putting that down to my terrible FPS skills.

January 5th - Final Fantasy VII January 22nd - Death's Door January 25th - Citizen Sleeper January 31st - Dead Space (2008) February 5th - Dead Space 2 More fun and chaotic than the first game. Necromorphs come so thick and fast that there’s less of the creeping tension of the first game, and more ...

Re: Games Completed 2023
I hadn't heard of this before. It looks great. I've tried a few other sites and apps before but they all lacked a little polish. I'm definitely gonna use this. I'm a big believer in the power of ticking boxes and making lists etc. The satisfaction of things being marked 'finished' and organised acc...

Re: Games Completed 2023
Playing this myself too now and about half way through. I'm finding it more tense than scary but I thought that was because I don't find sci-fi horror that scary. It still gets me when a monster comes out of nowhere though and when you're on you last few bits of ammo with monsters coming straight a...

Re: Dark Souls I, II and III
Totally agree on the sense of place/backtracking comments. I played the remaster in 2020 and there's definitely something special about it worth going back to. I like the slower paced combat and the difficulty being in the level design and enemy placement.

Re: Games Completed 2023
I haven't played Dead Space since I first bought it on my 360. What weapons did you use? Because to me, it lost a lot of the horror when I learned how easy it was to kill most enemies with the starting weapon (the laser cutter or whatever it's called). I found basically every other weapon to be way...

Re: The Last of Us
Think I'll wait until the season's over. I prefer watching at my own pace. Great to see it's getting so well reviewed. I'm quite glad they're changing things too. That way each stands on it own, but still gives you a good telling of the story.

January 5th - Final Fantasy VII January 22nd - Death's Door January 25th - Citizen Sleeper January 31st - Dead Space (2008) The remake motivated me to finally get the original off my backlog. Re: Games Completed 2023
January 5th - Final Fantasy VII January 22nd - Death's Door January 25th - Citizen Sleeper I loved this. It plays like a board game, and is quite addictive moving from day to day managing your activities. It’s quite short and there’s plenty to discover on another run, places you didn’t find and sto...
