Re: Games you nearly completed that bug you because you know you likely never will
I do wonder whether I'll ever finish Blood and Wine. I've just completely lost interest in TW3. It took several month long chunks to finish the main game, and I barely touched the other DLC, but liked the look of Toussaint. Maybe it's just not for me. I dunno, I loved walking round the world and lov...

Re: The Nintendo news and discussion thread
It's got to be a decent money spinner for them, I'm sure they will. Since I got a Wii U a month or so ago, I've barely touched my PS4, for what it's worth. Obviously, had I just bought a PS4 with Bloodborne, Uncharted 4 and Journey, after a couple of years of Wii U, I'd feel the other way but it is ...

Re: Games you nearly completed that bug you because you know you likely never will
Well, you must get back into Dark Souls, really, you must. Cancel your plans for today, I reckon, and book the week off work. Send the wife and kids to Haven Prestatyn. Mine was very nearly Bloodborne. I couldn't get through the Chalices on vanilla BB and only when the DLC came out, and I picked up ...

Re: Pro Evolution Soccer
Alan Green on Olympic Soccer was my first experience of the partisan Liverpool imp, and what an absurd, hyperactive performance it was. In fairness, he was commentating on 90 minutes of long balls, chest traps and bicycle kicks from 50 yards. What a game. On the Pro Ev front, did anyone ever play th...

Re: Battlefield 4
I do think it's a tremendous game, though I've only put 30 or 40 hours into multiplayer and still don't really know what loadout suits me best. I've had most success and fun being sniper but I can't shake the suspicion that I'm a scrub, even having pulled off some ludicrous long range dipping headsh...

Re: The Sony news and discussion thread
Regarding the Pro, I've gone from 'definitely' to 'when my PS4 breaks down'. I don't have a 4K or HDR telly and don't have a grand to spend on this kind of upgrade. The Scorpio sounds more like the technical upgrade I'd be willing to pay for, even without a 4K TV but obviously, I'll need to see how ...

Re: What's Out This Week?
Why is Bioshock coming out tomorrow on PSN, rather than Tuesday like everything else? I have no time to play it tomorrow or this weekend and I've wanted to play it all week. I've already got my strongly worded letter template out, just don't know who to address it to. Yours perplexedly, Tunbridge We...

I adored the first but couldn't make it through the second Phoenix Wright. I keep meaning to go back because I love the characters. I'm saving it for a plane journey some day.

Re: Whatcha Been Playing?
I've been getting stuck into OutRun today on 3DS, after really digging the recent podcast. I did play it as a kid but never since. The Last Wave is absolutely wonderful, definitely on my list for when they blast my coffin into the sun or whatever it may be.

Re: "Gameplay"
I can't disagree with that, there's very little in TPP which matches the density and detail of GZ. At first, I found MB strangely soothing in its lifelessness, I enjoyed pottering around the animal enclosures particularly, but once I'd got past that stage, and once I realised that it wasn't going to...

Re: "Gameplay"
Nothing insightful to add but I enjoyed reading your breakdown and it made me think about what I mean when I talk about gameplay. I disagree with you about MGSV which I think is a mechanical marvel but also a level design marvel...once you get to the populated areas. I can't disagree that there's a ...

Re: What's Out This Week?
I'm sorry to say it but Resi 4 is a pretty average game on PS4. In fact, having mostly played the Wii version, this not only doesn't improve on it in any meaningful way, it's inferior in most of the ways that count. The controls and button mapping are so unintuitive. The right stick camera control i...

Re: The Sony news and discussion thread
I remember buying LotF when I was basically just waiting for Bloodborne and Scholar, thought it might be a decent stopgap. It is quite shite and doesn't have the Souls feel or any depth but for a PS+ game, I think it's playable enough. Some people do like it, in the same way that meth probably scrat...

Re: What's Out This Week?
I'm keen to see how it looks and plays because ideally, I'll just get it on VC for the Wii U. I think the Wii controls were superb, personally, and I played it back to back to back when I first got it. I had it in Japanese though so I'd happily upgrade to English, especially as my old Wii has conked...

Re: The Sony news and discussion thread
They sound great - what connector do they have on the end? Like where do you plug them in, I mean. They're wireless in fact, I should have mentioned that. They come with a 'Mixamp' which plugs into the PS4 via USB (for power and voice chat) and optical (comes with the cable) for 7.1 sound (in theor...

Re: Games completed 2016
I bounced off Isaac several times until I heard (on the podcast) that it doesn't really start to open up until you beat Mom for the first time, and I now understand where that statement comes from. The more you do, the more variety you get, due to the unlocks. It also varies the path too so you neve...

Re: The Sony news and discussion thread
@Alex It sounds a bit poor to me, regardless. Same with the Wii U gamepad but I can't even use my decent headphones with that as no optical. I'd genuinely recommend the Astro A50 if you find them at a decent price. I got the last set at Argos (PS3 gen model, identical to PS4 version except for colou...

Re: Games completed 2016
I know the one you mean and I can very very clearly remember the moment it clicked. I thought I was having an aneurysm staring at it, it was almost frightening but that release of tension when I realised what was up...giddy.
