Re: Our next podcast recording (11.2.17): Undertale

I would love to play this but I don't have a computer, really, just a tablet and phone. I really hope it gets ported to console or handheld.

Re: The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild

Good call. For all the excitement around the Switch release, I must be honest, it's taken much of the focus away from the fact that we'll have a new full fat Zelda for the first time since the Gamecube. I've seen bits of early footage and all the trailers but I've also tried to avoid spoilers and mu...

Re: Whatcha Been Playing?

OK, thanks for the heads up, I'll give it a whirl. I've been rotating between Titanfall 2, Wind Waker HD and - finally - Rocket League over the past week or so. I did try Rocket League when it was very first released but it just didn't click. I'm still obviously quite bad at it but I've surprised my...

Re: The videogame music thread (also Sound of Play submissions)

This might sound silly but the 3DS Theme Shop, err, theme always gets me grooving from the very first synth stab. I love how the kick drops out and then comes back in a little earlier than you might expect, gets me every time. Again, sounds daft but one of my favourite gaming memories of the past ye...

Re: The Street Fighter thread

This was my favourite episode in a while. I usually listen to the show during the commute over a few days but burned through this over the course of a morning and evening. Great guest and fantastic insights. It also inspired me to get back into SFV this evening and stop jumping in!!! Four wins strai...

That sounds great. NSS was quality, until they went the way these things go. Has this got microtransactions in from the off?

Re: Our next podcast recording (4.2.17) - The Order: 1886

The first game I owned for the PS4, The Order came bundled with the console. I have little to say about the perfunctory gameplay or story but it is one of the most atmospheric games I've ever played, with a very well defined and consistent sense of place. My most enduring memories have nothing to do...

Re: Dark Souls I, II and III

When you alert the Heide knights, it's basically the game telling you not to bother with that spoke for another few hours. I also find a couple of those Old Knights pretty tricky, especially the two-handed sword guys, just so much arc.

Re: Dark Souls I, II and III

My instinct is to call you an utter heathen, friend, but in the spirit of compassion that this world needs right now, I'll walk the high road. In short, you're right! Scholar is a significant improvement over vanilla DS2 in many ways but the opening areas are now really quite obtuse and unnecessaril...

Re: The Nintendo news and discussion thread

Rejected Tinder slogan.

I'm excited by it.

Another rejected Tinder slogan.

Twenty quid a year sounds good but I've no idea how the phone thing works, sounds bollocks but I never use voice chat outside of SFV and Destiny.

Re: Retro gaming

Similar at my end, in fact. We had an Amiga which I absolutely loved but still rocking the NES well into the early 90s. My best mate had a SNES, though, and we wore it out on SMK and SF2, especially. It did mean I never played the big SP games, and in fact, we never owned a SNES so I never really ha...

Re: Retro gaming

One of my best mates has gone through a bit of a phase recently. He bought a SNES and we've had a number of great nights recently hammering Bomberman, SF2 and Mario Kart. I really do love the feel of the pad and it's just damn good fun. It's also prompted me to get a load of classic SNES stuff off 3...

Re: Rise of the Far-Right Worldwide

Yes. I think that part of the issue is that for too long the Left has torn into itself, complacent about something like this ever coming to pass. It's now time for support and solidarity and picking bigger battles. It's a so important to stay frosty in the face of this onslaught of misinformation an...

Ah, OK, I assumed they operated on a first come first served basis but you make a good point.

And just to confirm, I was given the 3rd as delivery date and then received an email this week with a change of delivery date.

Re: The Nintendo news and discussion thread

I've seen Mat Murray and Andi Hamilton discussing the same thing, and they've called Amazon and been given some conflicting responses. Most likely (according to customer service staff) is that it's delivered on the 3rd. My Zelda order is still due to arrive on the 3rd. It can only be down to a reass...

Re: The Nintendo news and discussion thread

I've got mine preordered but since Amazon 'updated' my delivery to the 4th, I'm in two minds whether to do a midnight launch supermarket run on the 2nd. When I say "I'm two minds", what I mean is I've mapped out the Tesco floor plan with a compass and set square and I will stop at nothing.

Re: The Street Fighter thread

I've played 1000's of hours of Street Fighter II and 100's of IV but III I've never played. Weird I was going to post pretty much exactly this. Evo Moment 37 is also probably the most exciting moment I've ever seen in gaming and still gives me goosebumps. Amazing. Still never played more than ten m...

It may well be on there but the Amiga game Wings was one I absolutely adored and would play for hours. It never seemed to end, mind you!
