Re: Whatcha Been Watching?

Been watching through the latest live action series of The Tick and it’s pretty good. I only have vague memories of the cartoon show back in the day, but I like the tone this one sets. Mostly. Sometimes it doesn’t quite know what it wants to be and has a tonal shift to the serious, which I think it ...

Re: The Nintendo news and discussion thread

Box Boy + Box Girl Demo is now live in the UK store. For those that are on the fence, or aren’t familiar with the game, I encourage you to give it a go. A very rewarding puzzle platformer 😎. It’s such a chill game, I love it! Make sure you play both sets of levels. The initial menu makes it sound l...

Re: Retro gaming

You can get emulators on almost anything nowadays and even the most zealous anti pc gamers all bought raspberry pi's and followed the foolproof retropie setup when they were fashionable. Most people just buy their console and games for it. Raspberry Pi’s are popular on the internet, but to the aver...

Re: Retro gaming

A lot of folk don’t want to sit at a PC to play games. They have an Xbox. If they can play a bunch of neat old games cheaply and easily, even if it’s just to give a quick nostalgia fix, this service let’s them do that. I think you’re way overthinking who this appeals to.

Re: Comic Book Chatter

Blimey. Managed to finish all 6 volumes of Akira and that was a journey and a half. Stunning stuff. The first 3 volumes follow a lot of the themes and setting of the movie but with a lot of differences in the story beats. The latter 3 volumes though - it works almost as a sequel to the film. What ha...

Re: What's Out This Week?

Capcom games put their Switch games on sale every other month, so it’s a good bet to just hang tight and wait.

If you guys want I can grab a few and ship them to the UK - it's just cardboard so the shipping costs will be pretty low.

It’s amazing how British this is.

Loved it.

Re: Videogame News

Nah, those are the pre recall versions going for inflated prices. The first is a used copy going at almost RRP, and the latter being a new copy at almost ¥4000 over regular price. If you check on the Japanese PSN, the page is still up there but you can’t buy it.

Re: Videogame News

There’s a huge build up and blister from developer and press alike about how they are touching and important stories on the cutting edge of what technology can do, and then the reality of a product that puts the b in subtlety. The stories are pretty poorly written in such a way that makes you anxiou...

Re: Google Stadia

Yeah, I think it’s definitely A future but not THE future - the scope of what a videogame can be has widened considerably and there are several hugely popular areas that you can have no interest in but have your needs served well. In recent years there have been huge games like Five Night at Freddys...

Re: Google Stadia

I wouldn’t really describe it as tech pedantry (and apologise if it came off as dismissive), and I’d agree a lot of those issues are really important to a lot of people. Fighting games would suffer particularly. But if you look at the biggest games around, your Minecrafts and Fortnites, they already...

Re: Google Stadia

I’m not really interested but it could be a hit. I think a lot of people underestimate how much of the public value convenience over quality- there were similar arguments when music and movies switched over to streaming (Blurays are so much better quality, why would anyone listen to an album so badl...

I’m on the hunt! Will let you know any I spot. Speaking of Virtual Boy, Jeremy Parish is doing a pretty great chronological dive into the library. He’s doing so with other systems too, but he’ll actually be able to finish this one in his lifetime - https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLd3vJYdenHKF...

Re: Retro gaming

Nice! Managed to play one in Super Potato a while back and thought it was neat as hell. Granted I only played it for 2 minutes, but i really enoyed it. I see them every so often for sale and the price isn’t actually too bad, but I don’t think I can justify the price and space it would take up for th...

Re: Videogame News

Yeah drugs are a pretty huge deal in Japan and this guy has screwed up pretty big time - currently Judge Eyes has been removed from PSN, shipments have been cancelled (causing used prices to skyrocket online) and Sega has been deleting tweets mentioning the game. He’s also the voice of Olaf in Froze...

Re: Gotta catch 'em all things Pokémon

I saw someone do a video about it on Red and, while I can see giving yourself a challenge is neat, it’s definitely not for me. The biggest issue is right at the start of the game, and it doesn’t really seem *difficult*, but rather just a bit dull. Lots and lots of grinding.
