Re: Getting out of a gaming rut

If you sign up for an account at The Backloggery, you can add all those games to a personal database. Then it has a tool called a "Fortune Cookie" you can use to randomly select a game from your collection. Might remove an element of deliberation from your project!

Re: The "Introduce yourself" thread

Been putting off writing this for a few months now. Really should have gotten to it sooner. So my name is Andrew. I came late to podcasts because I honestly thought they were a thing that was briefly popular in 2005 but died off quickly. I've been listening to Cane & Rinse since Volume IV, drawn...

Confession time: I have put hundreds of hours into the 3DS version (I only have one challenge panel left to clear) and less then twenty into the Wii U version.

Re: Too Late For Super Smash Bros. for Wii U?

I looked at the Gamecube controllers when Sm4sh Wii U came out. I did the math and quickly realized it would cost the same amount for the Gamecube controller (if you buy one of the ones specifically for Sm4sh) and an adapter as it would for a Pro Controller, and it would ONLY work with Sm4sh. The Pr...

Re: Whatcha Been Playing?

I've found that there are quite a few games in my collection that I am ambivalent towards and I just plain will not ever get around to playing them unless I take that decision out of my hands. So I've started using a Random Number Generator called The Fortune Cookie at a website a frequent to choose...

Re: SoP submissions *please read first post*

It's very easy to pick any number of songs from The Legend of Zelda series; you could pick any game at random and find two or three instantly-recognizable tunes within it that would be a great choice for any compilation. But I have a more offbeat suggestion that is easy to overlook, chosen from Ocar...

I rarely have problems in Splatoon or Mario Kart 8. Sm4sh is the only Nintendo Network I game that gives me problems. /shrug

Re: Too Late For Super Smash Bros. for Wii U?

I've never played an online match that wasn't noticeably laggy. Personally, I waste very little time on that. I thusly end up being one of those oddball people who spends a large amount of time playing Smash Bros., but spends most of that time playing it totally solo. I must also confess to mostly p...

Re: Games completed 2016

I'm assuming credit roll versus 'done everything'. Pretty much this. A completion would be all side quests & non story stuff along with 100% on trophies or achievements. But not this. Trophies and achievements are often combined with multiplayer content, and multiplayer content is frequently lu...

Re: Game suggestions for the podcast

I'm sure it's been suggested several times already, but I want to reiterate:

I'd love to see the entire Metroid series covered in a future Volume.

Re: Games completed 2016

Oh, this thread is a thing. Okay. Beat: The Swapper (Wii U) BioShock (360) Toy Story (Genesis)--Had to use save states to get through it so I don't count it as "completed." Complete: The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past (SNES) Home Alone (SNES) ...wow, that's really all I've done this J...

Re: Our next Zelda podcast recording (4.2.16): The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past

Three Word Review: Favorite Classic Zelda Hot Take: While A Link to the Past is justly remembered as a well-crafted videogame, one of the things it does best often goes unrecognized: How the player traverses space. While at first glance A Link to the Past would seem to be an improvement mainly on t...

Re: Our next podcast recording (7.1.16): Zelda II: The Adventure of Link

Three Word Review: Hammer clears Forest? Zelda II may be one of the most important Zeldas. It shows that the series is not just a formula, that a tiny bit of its essence can be captured in a game which you would otherwise be forgiven for not recognizing as part of the canon. In spite of its greater ...

Re: Our next podcast recording: The Legend of Zelda

Three Word Review: Linearity? Grumble grumble. With the first game in the series coinciding with the year of my birth, I've always felt that The Legend of Zelda and I have been connected on a spiritual level. It is the game I give credit to getting me into videogames; I was aware of them as I grew o...
