Re: Whatcha Been Playing?

Halo 5: Guardians So I’ve had three sessions with the game so far - 2 x three-player campaign co-op on Heroic, 1 x Warzone multiplayer. Firstly the campaign. Everyone seems really down on this but I’m going to stick my head above the parapet and say I’m loving it so far! I’ll caveat that by saying ...

Re: Consoles built around specific games

I wish I had a lovely collection of arcade sticks.

Although having said that I'm probably actually better at fighters with a d-pad! Hailing from Brighton you probably got more practice on the real thing than I did growing in a Wiltshire village!

Re: Consoles built around specific games

It's the lack of X-M vs SF and Marvel vs SF that makes me particularly sad as well. Don't suppose well ever see them again thanks to boring rights issues! You're right there are lots of great ports out there nowadays, but I just loved playing 2D fighters with that Saturn pad. Trying to play anything...

Re: Consoles built around specific games

Yeah true the STV and Naomi were effectively the innards of Saturn and Dreamcast weren't they! Forgot about those! The Saturn of course had some pretty spot on conversions of Capcom's later 2D fighters of the era, particularly if you had an imported Extended RAM Cart! Mine got lost in a move a long ...

Re: Consoles built around specific games

Certainly Sega's consoles were always built with a firm consideration on them being able to run conversions of their arcade hits, which made up a large proportion of their first party output on their home platforms. I so miss the term 'arcade perfect' being bandied about in the days of the Saturn an...

Re: Videogame News

Is it safe to assume the Mii's will still be a part of ecosystem come the NX then if Nintendo's first mobile effort is all about them and not releasing until next year? Was kind of hoping those little buggers would be dropped..... Just on Gravity Rush 2 - is it me or does it look pretty much exactly...

My copy of Halo 5 just dropped through the letterbox :D

God bless thegamecollection.net - £37.75 (think they've put it up by £1 now) and 3 days early!

Shame I've got to insulate my shed this afternoon....

Re: Nintendo NX

the onus is fully on Nintendo to make us need the next machine, not the other way round. You're absolutely right of course. Not for a minute suggesting we all just run off and buy whatever they churn out if it's not up to snuff. It's not really a question of the onus being on gamers or Nintendo (ma...

Re: Nintendo NX

I'm interested in either handheld or home console and the rumours seem to suggest we might get an all-in-one solution for both which would be great (although no idea how that would work....but I guess that's why I don't work for Nintendo) As far as a handheld goes, I've only got a couple of games le...

Re: Nintendo NX

The problem is the 'it's too soon' argument from current Wii U owners is kind of irrelevant to Nintendo. Unfortunately the fact is there aren't many of you out there. Certainly nowhere near enough to support Nintendo moving forward. If not a single Wii U owner picked up an NX because it was 'too soo...

Re: Nintendo NX

Personally I think it's absolutely essential that the console is as at least as powerful as PS4/Xbox One. If it isn't the major third parties won't support it, therefore it won't have the big franchise titles that millions of people love and it won't sell in big enough numbers to be a success. For t...

Re: What's Out This Week?

Wow Assassins Creed's out this week?!

That snuck up on me......

Seriously though, this has to be the least fanfare for an AC release ever, apart from maybe last year's old-gen only Rogue.

Re: Videogame News

I've finally found the fame and fortune I've been so desperately seeking! Gave a very brief interview to UK games industry trade bible MCV a couple of months back for their regular 'Insiders Guide' feature and was told it might get published 'in the next couple of months or so'. Turns out it was las...

Re: Xbox One

Microsoft have done a cracking job on the exclusives front this year and they definitely have the strongest line-up heading into 2016 for me. I'll be picking up three games before the end of the year and two are Xbox One exclusives - Halo 5 and Rise Of The Tomb Raider.

Re: Star Wars: Battlefront

I read about those resolutions last week and it really shocked me, both that they couldn't get 1080p out of the PS4 and that XOne version was only 720p! The PS4 is a fantastic piece of kit and often has produced a slightly higher native resolution on multi-platform titles so far, but that's almost a...
