Re: Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance
Reviews have all turned out to be good, a lot of 9s and 8.5s. Biggest criticism seems to be the length of the game, which is apparently about 5 hours. The average playtime seems to be 4-5 hours, but that is the fastest completion time for each mission combined; cutscenes aren't included (possibly n...

I'm sure you won't have to wait long before finding it at that price.DomsBeard wrote:A rental or sub £15 for me but I look forward to hearing about how 'Metal Gear' it is on here
I wouldn't be picking it up this week but for the fact that it's half term.

Thanks, Darren. I'll make sure to ask.
Last chance for any other questions. The interview is this evening.

Ha ha. I'm writing about the 'not a game' phenomenon now. Whatever you call it Proteus is worth 'playing'. Glad you enjoyed it.Roy42 wrote:Proteus is not a game. Nevertheless, I "played" it a little earlier. Not going to actually put it on my list, but it's certainly a fun time.

Thanks, Jay. I hadn't even thought of that as I've never had occasion to use iMovie at all before.

Re: Game Capture/Recording
I highly doubt there would be any audio issue, however you're better off just combining them into a single video and seeing what it sounds like when you render it out to know for sure. Thanks. I'll give it a go. Any suggestions for editing software for cutting video clips together? I'm inclined to ...

They are, but I'll create another up with your name if you're gonna be making videos and just drop it in there. I will be doing more tests at some point this week. I'm happy to use the existing ones until I get my head around what I'm doing. Don't want you to take any trouble over this until I know...

It transpires that I'm 17.9% slower than the average gamer, so at least by playing the PAL versions I mitigate against all but 1.2% of my deficiencies.

I'm getting an Avermedia Live Gamer HD to try out thanks to a local PC hardware store. Should produce some impressive footage, but we'll see how much I'll have to downscale in order to meet a reasonable file size. Jay, Darren F, Darren G or Josh, are the Quick Rinse intros and outros in the Dropbox?...

Re: The Film Recommendation Thread
Yeah, "producer" was the wrong word to use, I meant it to highlight (as you clarified) his contributions to the production of and forwarding of film as a medium. ILM and THX (I nearly typed THQ ) alone have made so many strides forward in production values.

Re: Destiny
I'm interested to hear more about Destiny for all the reasons you mentioned, Jay. I'm still baffled as to why Bungie are trying to build hype on dust and dreams though. Rockstar can do that for GTA because we all know, more or less, what a GTA game is, but I'd prefer to see Bungie putting something ...

Re: The Film Recommendation Thread
I'll let the trailer describe it, but needless to say I found it fascinating. It also makes you realise that despite the last three Star Wars films George Lucas is a true visionary with regards to the technology of the entire film making process. As a producer Lucas is, as you say, a visionary. His...

Re: Game Capture/Recording
Roy, thanks for the tips. If I'm recording at 720p then, presumably, I could drop the game resolution to 720p also to lighten the load on my PC whilst recording. I can close down all non-essential programs, but having the game, capture and audio recording software open could be a significant load. T...

Re: PlayStation Plus
Yeah Bioshock 2 is a worthy sequel. I didn't bother with the tacked-on multiplayer, but the campaign is pretty good. The multiplayer wasn't much to write home about as a competitive endeavour, playing with random others, but with a group of friends it was excellent. A bunch of the Unified Gamers' N...

Re: All things Dead Space
"Treading water" doesn't mean it's bad, it just means that it's standing still. Absolutely, and at this late stage in the generation I wouldn't have expected anything different. The time for a longer than 2 year break for any given series (to allow for new blood as much as for adapting to...

I haven't really tried XSplit besides booting it up after downloading. Since OBS is free, I'd recommend giving it a try. It's a simple enough program with all the features I'd expect, but perhaps a little less polished GUI than XSplit.

Re: All things Dead Space
Just started DS3. It's pretty full-on straight from the off, and those enemies move fast! The weapons seem to be weaker than I remember, but other than that it's more Dead Space so far.
