Re: The videogame music thread (also Sound of Play submissions)

Over in the Retro Asylum game club, we're playing Loom this month. It's a game that I've tried to get through many times but something put me off. Well, that's now changed. I'm now on my second playthrough and I'm playing through the "talkie" or CD ROM version of the game released in 1992....

Re: Whatcha Been Playing?

I spent yesterday evening playing Avalon on the ZX Spectrum, it's safe to say it's not a pick up and play game!!

Re: The videogame music thread (also Sound of Play submissions)

The music in Cannon Fodder is quite rightly lauded and most gamers of a certain age can instantly recall the intro music. However, the music which plays over the death in service screen at the end of each mission is also pretty wonderful. There is perma-death in Cannon Fodder so when you lost that f...

Re: Our next-but-one podcast recording (19.1.20) - 402: God of War (2018)

As somebody who spends a lot of time playing classic video games, the first thing to him me about God of War was the incredible production values. The game looks and sounds beautiful. The voice acting is Hollywood quality and it has convinced me that the medium can and does rival movies in terms of ...

Re: Console Special No.7: Sony PlayStation Portable (PSP)

I want to declare an interest: I love the PSP (and the Vita)! Of all the (I hate to think!) consoles and computers I have bought over the past 30 or so years, I have the strongest and fondest memories of picking up the Vita. In 2005, I travelled for 8 weeks around South America. Being an avid gamer ...

I'm interested in Dragon's Quest. I've never played a Dragon's Quest game, despite loving old school JRPGs!

Re: The "Introduce yourself" thread

I've just noticed this thread and realised I skipped it!! So I introduced myself with the "Back in Time" post on one of the other channels. I've been listening to Cane and Rinse now for about two years which is when I really discovered video game podcasts. My first was Retro Asylum and now...

Re: Whatcha Been Playing?

So I started God of War (2018) last night. I'm super-impressed. I spend most of my time playing games from the 80s and 90s. The best thing about that is that I get that new console feeling every time I go back to a current gen (or even previous gen to be honest)game. This is only the second narrativ...

Re: The Guardian's Top 50 games of the century

I've played 21 of those games. I disagree with so much in it but who am I to say what should be in a list of the "best" video games of the century. As the Cane and Rinse guys say, "favourite" yes, "best" no! The other thread has shown just how hard it is to make a top w...

Re: Back in time...

How do you play so many games at once by the way? I know your question may have been aimed at Simon, Clarence but I’ll throw my 2p in too if you don’t mind 😄. Generally, I have three games on the go at once. One current game, one current platforms, then one from a backlog list that I have going tha...

Re: Back in time...

The Rhythm Heaven series is definitely one I'lll look forward to it. I love a bit of Japanese obscura! Simon, it's great to have somebody willing to join in a co-op game. Once I've finished God of War it will be onto Resident Evil 5 and Gears of War. Perhaps I could hit you up when I get there? How ...

Re: Back in time...

Let's see how far we get! Getting through the entire catalogue is going to be a tall order but you have to start somewhere, right? It will jump around. For instance, with the Resi games, we'll be into Volume 6 almost straight away as Resident Evil 5 is the next resi game on the list. Assassins Creed...

Back in time...

Hi all I'm relatively new to the forums (thanks Jay for reinstating me!) but I've been a listener to Cane and Rinse for the past couple of years. I like to start things from the beginning and I won't listen to an episode until I've played the game. That means I've listened to episodes in no particul...
