Re: Games Completed 2022

#6 - Suikoden.

A short, fun little romp of a JRPG that really excels at what it tries to do. I haven't played this in quite a while and it was really fun to go back to it. On to Suikoden 2!

Re: The Sony news and discussion thread

And I'm glad you have the capital needed to make that decision. For those of us constrained by budget, digital is a great option WHEN AT A DEEP DISCOUNT. I would absolutely never pay full-price for a full $80 release. Let alone the absurd $90 Sony is asking for now. I don't either. A lot of titles ...

Re: Game suggestions for the podcast

I'm assuming Saga Frontier 1 and 2 are on the list (though you can amend it to the remastered version now)

Re: Whatcha Been Playing?

Saga Frontier Remastered on the Switch. I never gave this a fair shake on the PS1, and with the extra content and new visuals, I figured it was worth a go.

Re: Games Completed 2022

Albeit a new game from 2002! 😄 Technically not, as it's a port of a Japanese Gamecube game! Exactly what I meant; a Japanese GameCube game from 2002, it's a (very welcome) retro re-release. Believe me, I was as thrilled as anyone when it came out on Switch (and then PS4 and XO), but a conversion of...

Re: The Sony news and discussion thread

My guess is the latter. Because you don't want to understand the word 'both' and you're determined not to waste a good frown. Pick a position and bend reality to suit your feelings. How contemporary. I actually laughed that you don't have an Xbox despite the irresistible temptations of backwards co...

Also, finish #5 - Uncharted 3.

It's astounding what a giant leap in quality UC3 is from UC2 in terms of story telling and pacing.

Re: The Sony news and discussion thread

ThirdDrawing, you keep making reference to 'streaming'. Do you think PSNow is a streaming-only service? The PS3 games that are going to be added to the new tiered service are streaming only PlayStation Plus Premium** Provides all the benefits from Essential and Extra tiers Adds up to 340* additiona...

Re: The Sony news and discussion thread

What do you believe the myth to be? You agree that BC is a niche interest while putting the cart before the horse, i.e. There's little interest because of little availability, rather than little availability because of little interest. I'm curious what you know that Microsoft, Sony and Nintendo are...

Re: The Sony news and discussion thread

Streaming games sucks. We could have had full BC, but Sony decided to make us pay for a substandard service instead. I'd suggest you play any of the other PS5 console exclusives. I should say for clarity that I don't have any interest in playing older games on my PS5 and the data suggests that there...

Re: Game suggestions for the podcast

This is a more of a general question for the site. Do you guys have any visual novels added to the list and if not, are you likely to add any?

#4 - Mr. Driller: Drilland. Wasn't a huge fan of all the gimmick levels but it's nice to have a new Mr. Driller game.

I picked up the Cotton Guardian Force Saturn Tribute. It's not bad. Would've been nice to have English, but it's fairly easy to get through it.

Re: Shmups

Can you play all six on level 1 in this version? I’ve ordered the completely unnecessary collector’s edition so I’m still waiting! I thought you could only choose 1 and 2 twice in the original but 3 was unlimited. Anyway, regardless that means front-loading it so the first stages are more difficult...

Re: Games Completed 2022

#3 - The Wanderer: Frankenstein's Creature. Very artistic, very European and very sad. I really liked most of it despite some finicky Switch controls. It got meta at one point which was the one big drawback for me, but it was a good exploration of isolation and finding your place in the world. Don't...

Re: Whatcha Been Playing?

So I'm not the only one! I've been saying this for years, and was summarily dismissed as some kind of moron. Sony has this tendency to make all their games "more epic" with the second entry, and it's just tired at this point. The first Uncharted really feels like some schmuck stumbling in...

Re: Games Completed 2022

I also finished the first Uncharted game, which was a rather unpleasant experience. I had to keep forgiving the game, since it's 15 years old... but they knew how to make third-person shooters/action games back then too, so that excuse doesn't fly. The production levels are still very impressive bu...

Re: Whatcha Been Playing?

I've been playing through the Uncharted collection because I wanted to blow through something quickly for fun, and I've realised just exactly how much I loathe Uncharted 2 compared to the first game. It's basically Call of Duty Modern Warfare, but in third person. The fun and adventure of the first ...
