Re: 404: Assassin's Creed Origins
Origins for me is a great game that I just don't have the time or drive to properly commit to. The graphics are great, the world is beatifically put together and you can drive through on story missions or spend the time to explore all the corners or grind the loot if that's what you prefer. The mod...

Jan 2nd - Riverbond Crystal Caves DLC - Xbox One (100%)
Not much to add from my previous comments on Riverbond from last year - this remains a harmless voxel shaded action game that wears it's indie roots all over.
Better with friends but don't expect anything too deep

Re: Whatcha Been Playing?
Regarding headphones - I've never particularly thought into it honestly - the Xbox consoles are about the only ones that I've played where I've actively used the online play element and needed a microphone. Did have a set of infra-red headphones linked to the TV some years ago, which I think was box...

Re: Whatcha Been Playing?
A happy new year to you all. For the last few years, I've been keeping a list of games played (and on what system). 2019 marked the first year that I added some more information. In total 110 games played across 6 systems with a whole 11 story completions ... As the vast majoity is on a Microsoft sy...

Re: The Great Big CaR Forum Quiz 2019!
There are a lot of 'No ideas' in my answers and I'm still working on the anagrams but it'd probably as much as I know or am likely to remember Round 1: In The Beginning 1. Which legendary 8-bit composer, who's credits include Jack The Nipper and Auf Wiedersehen Monty sadly passed away in October 201...

Re: Whatcha Been Playing?
After being a bit lax with my Christmas wish list, I received a copy of Anthem for Christmas I had tried it out in the various alpha and tech tests over summer and it was a mess with a whole gamut of issues, so I was at least interested to see if several months of actual release had sorted out the g...

Re: Whatcha Been Playing?
Untitled Goose Game was one of the latest games to join GamePass so we've been trying that out. I think mechancially it works well and the style is firmly in keeping with the ethos of a rouge goose causing havoc in an english village - I'm not certain just how long this could maintain interest. Tha...

Re: Whatcha Been Playing?
And the True Achievements challenge is done! Managed to knock out the required twelve achievements in around three hours last night, using ten different games in a variety of stages of completion. In total, over the last fourteen days, I've unlocked 96 achievements (of which only 78 actually counted...

Re: Whatcha Been Playing?
I've been deep into the achievement hunt recently. Carrying on TrueAchievements Twelve Days of Christmas event, I went back into Kisima Innitchuna and am now pretty close to the end. Sadly, it's initial good impression has waned a little. There is a little too much game mechanics in this and there a...

Re: Whatcha Been Playing?
TrueAchievements are running their own 12 Days of Christmas challenge so I'm using that as a prompt to work through some older games. First one up was Never Alone (Kisima Ingitchuna) . This is a platformer that had a heavy involvement from the Inuit community. I'm still within the first hour of game...

Re: Whatcha Been Playing?
Spend Sunday afternoon playing local co-op with family: Started with Overcooked . I'm not sure it's possible to play this game without shouting at your co-players but it's a well crafted game that relies on co-operative play. I would like to see some measure to enabling a more child friendly take on...

Re: The Division 2
That said, I really miss the gear sets from Div 1 , collections of items that would give a special buff if you were wearing four or more at the same time. Whilst the sets that buff your attacks were useful, I had much more fun in any co-op encounter as a D3-F3NS (use a SMG with a riot shield) or Fi...

Re: The Division 2
When The Division 1 launched, there were the replayable story missions, and the vanilla dark zone, and ... that was it! First few patches were just fixing the game - the first expansion was delayed a few months until the 1.4 patch was tested and deployed (I think the first incursion has come out and...

Re: The Division 2
Considering how many of their games I never quite get around to finishing, I have a lot of time for Ubisoft games in general. There is a bit of a habit of launching games a little early (presumably to meet shareholder deadlines) but the post launch support is very good with a balance of QoL improvem...

Re: Whatcha Been Playing?
Something I've been dipping into recently has been Wargroove . 16 bit style presentation of a tactical rpg - I want to love it. But I can't quite work out the mechanics. The game usefully tells you how much of an impact you'll make on the enemy and how much damage they'll do in return but it seems i...

Re: You've been left an arcade by your long lost uncle!
The original Star Wars vector cabinets are notoriously hard to keep running, you just can’t get the parts anymore. No one really makes that kind of monitor now, the tech left the cathode ray behind many years ago. I think the full service manuals can be found online as pdf though, so at least you c...
