Very true. Still, looking forward to it.

Re: All things Resident Evil (Biohazard)

Well it is a fantastic game and the forefather of the third person shooter we all know today "Forefather" is an interesting way to put it. I'd argue the game is still unsurpassed in terms of pacing, encounter design, boss fights, polish and overall mechanics. I'm not even sure I would cla...

Re: The Nintendo news and discussion thread

Great news for all the heathens out there who have stored or even *gasp* sold their GameCubes! Fantastic system with a lot of great games that were never made available anywhere else, Nintendo being Nintendo and all. I'll keep mine hooked up - just in case.

Re: All things The Witcher

Well the thing is most of them arent necessary to enjoy the game. You dont like Gwent ? No need to play it. You dont want to bother with alchemy? Its also for the most part not needed. Only on my second playthrough i actually put some thought in stats and build so you can play the game you prefer w...

Re: "Gameplay"

Excellent original post and breakdown. I avoid using the word gameplay as well, as it can both mean too many things or really nothing at all, depending on the context. :) The above example is wrong, though. I'm currently playing The Twin Snakes and Silicon Knights actually went to great lengths to ...

Re: Toys to Life - Whatcha sayin'?

I find the toy-to-software implementation to be nothing more than a shallow gimmick at best, and a cheap trick to make money off of obsessive collectors at worst. So I don't think I'm the target audience for these. With that said, I'm in the same boat as you when it comes to amiibos. I bought a few ...

Re: Geoff Keighley's The Game Awards

Okay: My point is that the playing field should be fair to everyone. You seem concerned about well-intentioned developers being raked over the coals on account of not everything they talk about early during production making it into the final game. And sure, you should have some leeway in the way yo...

Re: All things The Witcher

I recently started playing The Witcher 3 and have put around 6 hours into it. My initial impressions are mixed: The world and character design is great and the writing seems really good. The combat is hardly a strength, but it's also not the complete travesty some people make it out to be. My main i...

Re: Geoff Keighley's The Game Awards

You guys are kinda missing the point... Edit: I don't think it should lead to harassment or anything like that, of course. But how often are these changes made public? It sort of changes the rules of the game if the consumer is given all of the positive stuff without any of the down-to-earth addenda...

Re: The Sony news and discussion thread

Interesting. I was also shocked by the ending, but I think it is completely in-character for Joel. If anything, I like how powerful and uncompromising it is.

Re: Geoff Keighley's The Game Awards

Fair enough, but there should be a modicum of trust between sellers and buyers. And I wasn't talking about a fancy trailer sewn together by publishers, but developer interviews which should be more reliable. What's the point of having them otherwise?

Re: The Sony news and discussion thread

He killed the scientists who potentially had a way to get the cure to what was happening, and thus doomed all of humanity to whatever was happening to it. I found it incredibly selfish and repulsive. Sounds like a perfectly valid analysis of the ending to me. Joel's decision is indeed very selfish ...

Re: Geoff Keighley's The Game Awards

I didn't like the ending, but I also thought the popular reaction to it was absurdly overblown. A science-fiction series with a disappointing ending? That has literally never happened before! (/sarcasm) I have no dog in the fight when it comes to Mass Effect, but to my knowledge, the reasoning behi...

Re: The Hitman thread

I haven't played it myself, but as far as I understand it, the online connectivity is indeed mandatory. It's even expected to be the case for the retail disc release. Completely asinine move, and a deal breaker for me as well.

Someone please correct me if I'm wrong.

Re: Unconventional methods

Sometimes you have a game that you know back to front. You know where every enemy will pop out and you can conquer any boss in your sleep. But sometimes you want to play through a game again and you want it to be fresh. Interesting thread. One of my favorite gaming experiences was in fact a self-im...
