Re: Are you genuinely excited for Xbox Series X|S & PS5?
As others have said, the graphical leap is very minuscule compared to say, PS2 to PS3. So to me at least, I really don't see the need for a new gen right now. I have such an absurd backlog of stuff for the PS4 that I want to check out before the thought of getting a Switch, never mind a PS5, enters ...

Re: Whatcha Been Playing?
Hard agree on C&R ding an episode on this one. Just based on the concept alone, it really is one of the more unique experiences out there. Now there’s a blast from the past! I loved Tokyo Jungle! Pretty sure it’s on PlayStation Now too. Such an oddity but fascinating. Yeah, PlayStation Now is h...

Re: PlayStation All-Stars Battle Royale
Oh, Lara and Abe would have been more than ideal, and characters like Dart would have probably been most player's introduction to him similar to Ness or Roy and Marth before Fire emblem became big in the West. What could have been.

Re: Our next console special podcast recording (4.10.20) - Sony PlayStation 2
My first experience with the second Playstation console was really peculiar compared with the original with it’s at the time mind blowing graphics, FMV cutscenes and polygonal T. Rexes. When it first came out in late 2000, we rented it with two games: the original Timesplitters and some racing game;...

Re: PlayStation All-Stars Battle Royale
I never played this but it is a pity to hear it did not reach the heights it could have. Playstation had already built a pretty extensive history by the time this was released and I really wonder how this would have turned out if Sony had put as much time and money into this as Nintendo clearly does...

Re: Rayman
Thanks for that tip, Jobo! I've always been interested in Rayman 2 and was considering getting a Dreamcast copy. What you say is encouraging. That is exactly the thing. Even before I finally gave up (which I'm not proud of!), all fun was sucked out of the game for me. Even a diabolical piece of sof...

Re: Whatcha Been Playing?
Tried out Tokyo Jungle today and I am amazed that something like this has eluded my attention for so long. Survival games are not my cup of tea at all but the setting of a human free Tokyo and surviving and reproducing until you are eventually snuffed out is super compelling in this game. Obtaining ...

Re: Rayman
Currently watching Michiel's stream of this game and I am in utter awe at the god-like patience he is undergoing while dealing with the nonsense this game pulls. I particularly remember where I gave up as well. Band Land was destroying me so I thought I would go back to Moskito's Nest and maybe I mi...

Re: 439: A Boy and His Blob
I was always somewhat curious about this game seeing as it had an interesting concept and it being a re-imagining of an old NES title made me extra curious as more modern technology and design sensibilities could possibly refine a unique idea into a truly special experience. For me, A Boy and His Bl...

Puzzles w...

Re: The videogame music thread (also Sound of Play submissions)
"Intro Story" by Yoshito Hirano and Yuka Tsujiyoko is a fantastic summary of Paper Mario: Thousand Year Door with its spirit of mystery and adventure. It lets you know that you are going to be going on a more epic journey than usual with Mario and signaled to me that this was going to be a...

Re: Whatcha Been Playing?
There is a week trial of Playstation Now and so I have decided to try it out. Correct me if I'm wrong, but for some reason I have it in my head you're in Australia? If so, has PS Now finally been rolled out down under then? Nah, I'm currently in Austria so we have it same as anyone else in Europe. ...

Re: Whatcha Been Playing?
There is a week trial of Playstation Now and so I have decided to try it out. First thing I did was stream Lovely Planet which is one of the most unique FPS games I have ever seen. The levels are short and quick and mechanics are introduced at a good pace ensuring that things are always kept fresh. ...

Re: Whatcha Been Playing?
While shopping for something to play for my DS, I came across Kirby Super Star Ultra. Never played the SNES original and I do like the pink marshmallow quite a bit so thought why not pick it up? Went and blazed through Spring Breeze and Great Gourmet Race alongside some of the minigames such as the ...

Re: Whatcha Been Playing?
I have not played a snowboard (or indeed any sports) game in ages so thought I would give Steep a try. Interestingly, it is much more than snowboarding with skiing, wingsuits, sleds, parachutes and even jetpacks to use in various events. The controls are responsive and tight and the sense of speed r...

Re: Console Special No. 8 (recording 3.7.20): Xbox 360
I have always had trouble getting into Microsoft’s line of consoles. The original Xbox was a black brick with an ugly lime green circle on top which looked extremely unappealing compared to the futuristic PS2, the cute dinky Gamecube and the elegant Dreamcast. Its controller was also too large and u...

Re: Games Completed 2020
I never tried out Arkham Origins, just dismissed it because it wasn't a Rocksteady Batman title. That might have been unfair of me, this new title does sound intriguing enough. Ironically, not too into the series that Rocksteady is focusing on next so will probably give it a mix. Thanks for the head...

Jan 31-Yooka-Laylee and the Impossible Lair April 13: Yakuza Kiwami April 30: Locoroco 2 June 21: Batman: Arkham Knight I was unfortunately too late to get on the show but I quite enjoyed myself with this one, all things considered. The combat is a bit more basic especially compared to the PS4 Spid...
