Re: PlayStation Plus (and the PS Store in general)

Nice, I completed Ico but bounced really hard off SotC last year; maybe I'll try it again.

I have a serious problem, though. I'm actually thinking of buying Demon's Souls from the US store so that I can do the Platinum again on that version. I have to resist this urge...

Re: Pre E3 next gen consoles - which one do you want?

I'm fully convinced that Sony are going to turn around and screw everyone on DRM and used games, but at the moment I'm going PS4. I started this gen with a 360, then moved across to pS3 when the howling jet engine became too much. I like what Sony did with the PS+, and as a player of sports games, t...

Re: Using Games as a documentary medium

Check out Unmanned, by molleindustria. It's not documentary as such but provides a great take on the drone eats in Afghanistan. There's a rich vein of stuff there if you wanted to explore it - the Internet is full of stuff about video gamers being ideal for flying these drones. Admittedly I haven't ...

Re: This Week's Show: Tale of Tales

The notion of The Path as antithetical to Journey intrigues me greatly - in what ways would you say that was the case? Journey's is a journey towards transcendence. The girls in The Path are going on a journey too, ostensibly to Grandma's house, metaphorically to adulthood. However, instead of tran...

Re: This Week's Show: Tale of Tales

Ach, I'm kinda sorry I brought up the whole game/notagame thing. It might only really be relevant to those who debate games on that deconstructionist/semantic level. It suffices that The Path is delivered in videogame form and it should be debated as a game, I think. With that in mind, I guess it in...

Re: This Week's Show: Tale of Tales

This is an interesting one. I picked up The Path a few years ago on a whim; didn't know anything about Tale of Tales or any debate around The Path. I was just intrigued by the screenshots. I loved it, despite the gameplay, for three or four of the girls. I found it both spooky and horrifying, and wa...

Re: Dark Souls I & II

Yeah, imperative to take Gargoyle #1 out as soon as - #2 appears when you get him down to half health so as soon as that happens, finish him quick! If you're doing it unassisted there is a sweet spot at 4 and 8 o clock on the gargoyle's body - just tuck in there under his wing and hammer away and he...

Nice! There's quite a lot in it that only becomes apparent once you start playing, so it'll be interesting to see what you guys make of it.

Re: Game Suggestions for the Podcast

An interesting one might be Miasmata , which came out on PC before Xmas. Interesting aspects of the game include: A new take on survival horror Unique game mechanics like having to map your surroundings Game was created entirely (including game engine) by two brothers Various physical and psychologi...

Re: Whatcha Been Playing?

Recently I've been playing this eclectic bunch: MLB The Show 13 (amazing game, they've absolutely nailed the game of baseball in videogame form) Out of the Park Baseball 13 (an incredible management sim, Football Manager with several million more stats) A Valley Without Wind (really pleasantly surpr...

Nice job, iwatttfodiwwfa! Sounds like the same sequence in which I did the ending - I was very nervous trying to get Priscilla's tail at the end in case I killed her and had to go through NG++++

Re: What's your longest playthrough that you can remember?

I think I've put somewhere between 500 and 1000 hours into Mount & Blade with Native Expansion mod; and another 100 into M&B with Prophesy of Pendor.

Longest "playthrough" I can think of was Dark Souls at 189 hours, which was three times or so.

Re: Your gaming claims to shame...

Great thread; these are the best so far:  Who took the last copy of Halo 3 in the shop out the hands of a disabled boy? Who had a wank over Sam Fox Strip Poker? ;) And at last until last year I thought Link's name was Zelda. I played through Portal almost completely oblivious to what Glados was...
