Re: Games Completed 2019

Jan 16 - Yakuza Kiwami 2 (PS4) Jan 20 - FTL: Faster Than Light (PC) (Easy) I planned to play A Bird Story today, but saw FTL on my Steam account and thought 'ah go on then'. I finished it on my third attempt today. Not bad as its only my third successful completion. I find it quite hard, even on ea...

Re: Games Completed 2019

Jan 16 - Yakuza Kiwami 2 (PS4) Not near the highs of 5 or 0 but its more Yakuza so I'll enjoy it. Dialing down the combat styles down to one hasn't helped. In 4 and 5 there were 4 separate characters with distinct styles and 0 and Kiwami allowed characters to switch it up. The locales look fantastic...

True. Could you also rewind in battles, I played it 8 years ago and might be remembering incorrectly. Even then it got the better of me. :(

Re: Whatcha Been Playing?

Finished the second disc of Final Fantasy VIII . I'm finding it oddly nostalgic considering I wasn't that happy about it back in the day. This time around I'm really keeping on top of the junction system. Honestly it's destroying any difficulty curve this game had. The disc ended with a big climacti...

The original must be insanely hard then. The PSP version broke me late in the game and I never finished it.

Re: Our next podcast recording (19.1.19) - Issue 353: Gravity Rush 2

I completed Gravity Rush 2 shortly after release and wrote these few thoughts back then. The additional gravity styles are great. It's rarely essential to use them but switching up attacks with them is fun. I also enjoyed using Moon style to take giant leaps everywhere. Sadly, the camera hasn't impr...

Re: Most Anticipated 2019

I haven't paid much attention to what's coming out this year but someone mentioned Ori and the Will of the Wisps on the Patreon monthly cast and now I'm pretty excited.

I guess I'll notice others when they come out.

Re: Volume Eight

Yes it is in order.

An official text list will likely be out in due course (they will probably update this at some stage https://caneandrinse.com/full-podcast-listing/ ). They usually tease a video like this first though. Threads for contributions will also go up on the forum at some point soon.

Re: Volume Eight

Great work all.

The third one is Gravity Rush 2. They've already covered the first game.

I wrote a little bit on that here when I finished it 2 years ago so I'll probably put some of that in the podcast thread.

Re: Gaming Goals for 2019

I really should play Sorcery! at some point. But not in 2019 it seems. As with the last 2 years, I've prepared a couple of lists. This first is a selection from the Cane and Rinse Volume 8 list. Obviously I need to wait for the team to release the schedule before I can pick what I want to play along...

Re: The Nintendo news and discussion thread

There's usually extra content in the second version of a Persona game. This would help some people double dip. If its like Persona 3 FES with an additional scenario, I might be tempted when its cheaper. If its like Persona 4 Golden with additional content through the game, I'll skip it. Persona 5 wa...

Re: Whatcha Been Playing?

Nice to hear about the cutscenes. I played the DS version earlier this year and it seemed the picture and sound quality took a hit so it could all be crammed onto the cart. Currently got a few games on the go. I'm halfway through the second disc on Final Fantasy VIII . I think I get what they were t...

not the characters, who's voices grate so very much in my ear There's a line in the ending cutscenes to the 4th game that made me instantly think of you . American anime style dubs run throughout the series. A Japanese option is available in 4 though. I left Celeste for a bit after finishing i...

Re: Our next Final Fantasy podcast recording (14.12.18) - 350: Final Fantasy VII

The small country town near to where I grew up had one video rental shop. Among the videos it had three rows with, at most, 30 PlayStation games. Getting to rent one of those was always a treat. In 1998 my brother and I were looking through these games, there were sports games, racers, platformers a...

Yep, we had some good races against the randoms. I kinda played rear gunner for DomsBeard on SNES Rainbow Road after you left :).
