Really great news this - some fantastic games on there and hats off to Microsoft for putting so much care and attention into both the selections and the boosted pixel counts.

Personal highlights - Jade Empire I loved and still have my original copy. KOTOR 2 I never finished back in the day and still have my original copy.

Obviously top of the pops though is Panzer Dragoon Orta. Again still have my day one copy. It’s a fantastic, beautiful game to this day even in standard def, and to get an up to 16 x pixel jump on the X will be glorious. It’s also not been playable properly other on original hardware due to a game breaking bug in the 360 back compat version as Flabyo mentions, but you’d hope if Microsoft are going to the effort of putting it out again now that it should be all sorted.

It's taken nearly three months but, thanks to God of War's stellar reviews, I finally regret giving away my PS4.

On the other hand, this is my first real incentive to pick up a PS4 Pro and go 4K.

So many games, so little time, barely any money. Ughh, the life of the hobbyist.

We don't seem to have a general 'catch all' gaming thread, so posting this here. I'm so close to getting these, can anyone vouch for the quality? They seem a decent price, £69.99 - I've seen the previous models selling for more than that, but I don't want to get them if they're duffers. Thanks!

EDIT: I got 'em. Well excited! I've never had any headphones other than the ones that come with my phone and an old pair I bought for a fiver to use on my PC about 15 years ago! Can't wait to try them.

Hellblade Senua’s Sacrifice would be a good game to put them through their paces :)

They are fantastic. Only the platinum headset trumps them in my opinion but for twice the price you barely notice the difference.

I’m interested in these but how do they hook up? I really need a set that I can use with all my consoles, not just one of them - is that the case with these Sony branded ones?

You get a USB dongle for them to connect wireless. You get an audio lead with then as well so could connect to anything with that but I think it would only be in stereo connecting that way. That was one of the negatives mentioned in reviews, they're kind of locked in to Sony hardware (although they possibly work OK on PC I think).

Got an email to say they'd arrived at home along with a copy of Shadow Of The Collossus. Can't wait till I get home, I will be shipping my girlfriend off to bed to watch the soaps whilst I get lost in epic beast slaying awesomeness in 7.1 surround

Enjoy.

I picked up my first set of headphones after I began listening to C&R. I'd always completely underestimated the importance of sound, but Leon's constant references to sound design made me realise I was missing out. Nowadays sound is absolutely fundamental to my enjoyment of a game.

I owned the earlier model of those Sony cans. I thought they were bloody excellent, especially at that price. Word of warning though, be gentle with them. My model had some sort of defect whereby the uprights eventually cracked in two. I'd already gotten my money's worth by that point but it was still disappointing. So handle with care!

Anyway, be sure to let us know how you get on.

Ok so this is a really dumb question, but if I'm wearing surround headphones, in game settings do I select the audio for headphones or home cinema? If I select headphones won't it just give me 2.0 audio?

I'm speaking from memory here, but I think you choose headphones and the PS4 will recognise your headset and provide the virtual surround sound.

This is probably an even dumber question :D but have you read the installation guide?

Make sure you download the headset app on your PS4 as you download optimised profiles for certain games which enhance the experience

Thanks yeah I did download it but there was only about 4 games there were profiles for and there didn't seem to be any way of searching or showing all games (if indeed there were more)

There's only a limited amount of profiles on the app. What you see is what you get. Check back every now and then to see if there's a new bespoke profile for a recently released title, typically a big Sony exclusive.

That’s a shame. I’ve had my headset since launch and usually every major release had a profile. Infamous, batman, last of us etc. They must have phased them out over time

Got tempted by that email from sony last week too, eh?

I own a few headsets for a number of reasons but I also bought these this week.

Cool what do you think of them? I've only played SOTC and Fallout 4 with them so far, but both sound great. The guns in Fallout are ear splitting! The shotgun especially!
