I've never been so baffled by big budget game design as when I played FFXIII, how on earth they thought an insane amount of hours literally running in a straight line, occasionally being interrupted by cut scenes and the odd enemy is completely beyond me. I put a lot of time into the game but bowed out on Chapter 12 I think, where it became apparent I'd need to grind to progress. The game had asked too much of me by that point to expect me to plough hours into levelling up so it went out for trade.

Such a shame, as there was SO MUCH of that game that I loved. The story and characters were great, the graphics unbelievable for a console RPG at the time and the battle system was superb. The bosses were great too and left you with a real sense of achievement once you'd sussed your paradigms and strategies to beat them. The good parts were just rolled out to the player far, far too slowly for my liking.

I still have FFXIII-2 in the wrapper actually, which I hear addresses some of these issues, will get to it one day...

Do we have a Final Fantasy thread? I don't really want to derail this one with the really quite large amounts of stuff I could say about 13 :)

Big old update on Steam's Store Front to help curate the page the way you want it! Very interesting.

Remember when people thought that map in Halo 2 was showing a real-time image of players online? Well, it's only taken 100 years for someone to do actually do it!

Well, that's depressing... good that they're trying to find jobs for staff elsewhere but still.

Testing the patience of players who want it day one. If you can't download it, then you must go buy it! Right? Right? ;-)

Apparently there are some fairly game breaking server issues going on with Drive Club, which is pretty sad for those who have had to wait nearly a year from when it was pushed back at short notice from its original release as a launch game.

I was really keen to check this out as I do like me a racing game, but some so-so reviews and broken servers mean I'll wait a few months at least. Really no excuse for releasing a broken game after a year long delay....
