Skylanders: Trap Team
Skylanders: Trap Team
Hi All,
So my 7 year old has requested this for Chrimbo - he has the starter pack but just wondering what other additions would make the experience the fullest and most enjoyable for him? Any suggestion welcome.
many thanks,

Hey Ash. I've tapped our resident Skylanders expert Tony up to give you a reply when he's finished work later today.
Re: Skylanders: Trap Team
Well there's nothing really specific that would make his time with the game more enjoyable but obviously extra characters to play with is always a bonus ( bushwhack is a favourite of mine ) and having a few more traps on top of the one you get in the box to capture the boss characters is nice but not essential and at £7 a pop all nine can get a pretty expensive.
Does he already have Skylanders Swap Force?
Swap Force is a better game in every department so if he doesn't have a copy yet it's well worth seeking out and you can get the game and the characters on the cheap now.

Re: Skylanders: Trap Team
I assume Trap Team figures won't be backwards compatible, but do the Swap Force (or older) figures work in Trap Team?
There's a compatibility table on Activision's website (http://www.skylanders.com/uk/en/for-parents#), but, as I'm not familiar with the series, I can't make head nor tail of it.

Re: Skylanders: Trap Team
Yeah, all exsisting figures will be compatible with the new one.
I'm done with Skylanders, frankly. The games are fun, and the figures are nice. But it's such a fucking cash-grab now. When Giants came out, they gave the option of buying a cheaper version if you already owned the first game. But now, every new game requires a new portal. It's absolute bollocks, and put me right off it.

Re: Skylanders: Trap Team
Thanks for the advice. I'm in an identical position with my seven year old! Unfortunately Trap Team is the one they're all playing at the moment, so anything less for Christmas wouldn't be popular. Will definitely look out for Swap Force later though if he gets into it.
Re: Skylanders: Trap Team
So what's a "Nitro" series figure then? I managed to splash 50 quid on two trap masters Krypt King and Gearshift, trust my son to choose two the are really hard to get hold of! Anyways the only Krypt King I could get was a "nitro" series one. What be the difference sage experts in such things? And what be a trap master? lol
Cheers,

Re: Skylanders: Trap Team
I believe Nitro is a colour variant (Gold) plus he has a few stats that make him a little faster than the standard Krypt King in game, a trap master is a skylander that makes trapping bosses in the new Trap Team game ten times faster so without them it takes a while to whittle down the bosses health.
Re: Skylanders: Trap Team
The reason you needed a new portal with Swap Force was down to the Swap Force characters splitting in half, the reader inside the original portal wasn't designed with this in mind hence a new portal being required, as for trap team well they added the whole trap slot and speaker on the portal so that was that, at least the Trap Team portal works across all the older games in the series.AndyKurosaki wrote:Yeah, all exsisting figures will be compatible with the new one.

The way I look at it is the starter packs are pretty good value to begin with so it's no big issue, Now if you wanted to talk about how the new traps for catching the bosses are a rip off well .......!
