Yeah, I do like Yosuke, but the farther we get from 2008 the more repellant his behavior becomes in regards to the homophobic jokes he keeps throwing at Kanji. Congrats on finishing that massive game!
Kanji's cluelessness is endearing, absolutely. I like Yosuke at the beginning, but geez... come on dude!

Now I have that game clear file saved, I can force myself to put that game down (I really just want to dive in again), and pick another title from the tower of shame...

Well that certainly was a Gears of War game. Nothing more than that, but also nothing less. Some nice ideas in there plot wise that feel like they're aiming for payoff in a later game, especially the 'sequel hook' (which I liked, but I think only people who've really been paying attention to the plot of the series will get, and let's be honest, not many people play these for the plot...)

The multiplayer is still people madly spinning around in close proximity trying to score a headshot with the shotgun. It's... not fun. Especially in a world that now contains both Titanfall 2 and Overwatch.

The single player campaign on default difficulty.
An entertaining FPS campaign that takes a lot of influences from other games that I've enjoyed (Singularity, Half-Life and Portal 2 to name but three) and wears them proudly on its sleeve, then adds in massive robots. As beautifully crisp and fluid to handle as the original Titanfall. Story and characters are disappointingly standard, inconsequential cheesy 'AAA' type fare, however the game frequently looked stunning on my GeForce 1070 and the audio - particularly the super crisp and loud weapons - added a lot to my experience.

Amazing climax to a fantastic game, incredible atmosphere and world building with no dialogue. This game made me think of the world created in Orwell's 1984 for some reason.

You're right - It's an absolute masterclass in minimalist story telling. Says so much with so little.

Doshonored 2 - Emily stealthy low-chaos playthrough. Game was very very good, it really improved on first game, especially in level design (clockwork mansion and Stilton's manor are truly wonderful). I was a bit disappointed with ending itself but that's really minor flaw in my book.
Im gonna go back to it and do a Corvo high-chaos assassin playthrough :)

Often brilliant, but often frustrating. It's a really mixed bag of a game, and despite having moments I love, I can't bring myself to love "the whole." A flawed gem, for sure. But Shadow of the Colossus, this is not.

The Last of Us(PS3)- Yeah I didnt expect to be finnishing this game again now either but this was an interesting playthrough,it was born out of a conversation with my mom where she was gushing about how the Walking dead was her favorite tv show so I floated they idea of playing this with her and she went for it,turns out that she really liked it! She got way more invested in it then I thought she would and by the end she was 100% behind Mr Joel XD.

Playing it again knowing everything that happens gave alot more time to appreciate the gameplay and I kinda love it,I mean I liked well enough the first time through but I really liked it this time,I love how the game is paced between it's quiet exploration/story sections and combat, how unique and slow paced the combat is for what is essentially a third person shooter where you switch between stealth and action, how you constantly upgrade yourself throught the game. Also one of the things I really liked was seeing all the more 'gamey' elements, like how there`s usually a safe in each zone where you have to grab a key to get loot from, how all puzzles revolve around planks and ladders, the upgrade parts that make no sense, etc. For some that might detract for what`s going for a pretty down to earth and realistic story but I found it really charming going back.
I also love how well the dialogue and each scene is acted,it`s just so good,it`s funny because everything in the game storywise is quite predictable and even a bit cliche up until the end but all of the scenes are all so well done that you totally buy it,I mean that intro alone still gets me everytime.

Playing it again I thought I would find the game lesser but quite the oposite happened I think I like it even more now and sure it has it`s fair share of problems, you cant stealth all the way through for example(which was quite frustrating my first playthrough because I was trying it),the AI can be both brillant and incredibly stupid and some parts of the narrative are abit too convinient but I think it`s fair to put this game as a benchmark especially if you compare it to the Uncharted games.

PS:Just struck me I still havent played Left Behind and quite honestly having replayed the game I feel 0 want to try it and I think the main thing is that I hear it has no combat and especially now that`s at least half the reason I like the Main game so much.

If you like the intro, I think you'll like Left Behind. Both are short, self-contained and focus on the narrative. If you like The Last of Us that much, I think you'll really like Left Behind.

For what it's worth, I thought there was too much combat in Left Behind, so it might be the perfect combination for you! :D

Haven't been on the forum in a while, so I do have some games I managed to complete: Rise of the Tomb Raider, Ratchet and Clank (PS4) Lego Star Wars The Force Awakens (PS Vita) and Back to the Future The Game. I enjoyed them all except BTTF.

I first encountered this game years ago on PC, and really liked the short amount I played of it. I've been looking forward to the Vita release for ages, but either never noticed it come out, or just forgot! Either way, I was dead pleased it turned up on PS+ this month. It's an absolutely fantastic game with a killer soundtrack. A totally unique platformer, and hard as nails in places. It was total fun from start to finish though, not a moment of frustration once over my 900 or so deaths. Only took 2.5 hours to compete, but the game offers amazing value for money (if you didn't get it for free) as there are dozens of extra levels, maps and game modes that unlock as you play. Seriously, they'd add hours and hours more gameplay - but I'm done for now. Really good game.

Inspired by Scrustle, I decided it was time to replay one of my favourite games ever.

Still holds up insanely well. Not quite as perfect as my memory recalled but I enjoyed playing it more than most other games I've tackled in the past 5 years. This game is nearly 15 years old. Its mental how much better it plays than anything else from that era...

Best feeling of being on a totally alien world alongside the two Xenoblade titles for me. Environments still look amazing and I love the puzzle aspect of exploring Tallon IV, especially when you get the morph ball ability.

Its at its best when it sticks to being exploratory and puzzling. Combat isn't so hot and some areas get infuriating with needless enemy respawns. The lack of save points in the Mines is pretty brutal too, and the final run of bosses is very hard. Have no idea how people beat them without the precise Wii controls?!?

In fact I remember there being loads of epic boss battles in this, but there really weren't. Must be thinking of Echoes. Love how much it credits the player with solving the Chozo scripts and finding the secrets too.

What a soundtrack too. A HUGE part of what makes the game feel so otherworldly and, for me, still the best opening level (disguising a clever tutorial) in gaming.

I miss the adventures of Samus. Hurry back soon...
