I would want a Rainbow 6 game that feels more like the book. The majority of the level would be setup to make sure the execution is perfect. Getting people in place, watching camera feeds, perhaps even negotiations and buying time. Then the actual breaching and capturing/executing of the bad guys would be less than a minute, if done correctly.

I think this concept could work in a multiplayer setting, though everyone would need to be willing to co-operate and might potentially have a significant amount of down time. I really think it would be a cool single player experience though, either switching between characters similarly to GTA V, or being the person in charge, directing them around like an RTS.

I just realized I sorta changed this from "games I'm shocked haven't been made" to "games that I want to be made", so sorry about that :D

I would enjoy an RPG in the HP universe, unrelated to the books' stories, at least directly. Personally I'm not a fan of MMOs, so that wouldn't be my cup of tea.

Now would you want to play a student at Hogwarts? or be someone in the larger wizarding world? I feel both could lend themselves to interesting stories and gameplay. What immediately comes to mind as far as outside of the school is to play as an auror, possibly hunting the remnants of the death eaters.

I know Spider-Man is coming, but a decent comic book movie game (not including the lego tie ins or Rocksteady's Batman)
Iron Man is 8 years old now, and to the best of my recollection, both iron man games are bad, the hulk game is bad, and that captain america game is mediocre at best. Seems real easy to get right.

I'm not sure what Hulk game you played, but I really enjoyed Hulk: Ultimate Destruction. I was rather young, and only played it a bit at my cousin's house, but I thought it was an entertaining sandbox romp.

I'm really looking forward to the PS4 Spider-Man game, and think an Iron Man game could be really cool. I don't think I would want it to be based on the movies, but rather follow its own story, taking inspiration from the films and books. The Marvel Ulitmate Alliance games were pretty fun, but they don't feel incredibly "super hero-y", more just really good arcade brawlers.

A really good Vietnam game, licensed from, erm... dunno, take your pick - Apocalypse Now maybe? Platoon? Basically, really gorgeous jungle setting, sneaking up on the VC, shootouts in jungle villages. We've had Crysis which was great, but not a normal military FPS. There was the one on PC years back (Vietcong, maybe) but it wasn't great and is ancient now. I'm hoping Battlefield or CoD take it to the jungle sometime soon.

Pretty sure the Vietnam War isn't a 'license'.

However there have been quite a few well-received games based around that particular conflict, going all the way back to the 8-bit days with film license Platoon and the SSI strategy game.

More recently there were the Brothers In Arms games and the add-on for Battlefield: Bad Company 2.

My vote goes to the 1987 masterpiece "Hard Ticket To Hawaii", directed by Andy Sidaris!

Due to the copious amount of nudity, I'm thinking NES styled pixelated graphics, and lets be honest, NES styled-platform gameplay that doesn't quite feel right. Obviously due to licensing issues, you may have to search for an emulated version (spoiler alert: this game doesn't really exist), unless we see an future eshop release of this on the brand new Nintendo Switch. Scratch that: launch title for the Nintendo Switch.

While different levels will have you play as different characters, the main protagonist would be Ron Moss, who's character name I forget. One level has you battling against a sniper on a skateboard, which you must fight off with your rocket launcher before the Jeep you're in takes too much damage; the beach razor frisbee showdown; and of course, the final battle: fighting a giant snake that bursts out a toilet with a rocket launcher (again, if you haven't seen this movie, get it, send the kids to bed/outside in the street, apologise to your significant other, and enjoy!), all the while protecting Donna, who by this point has gone from kick-ass spy to damsel in distress.

Surely, surely the licensing for this movie cannot be that expensive! And again, side scrolling levels, 8-bit graphics, terrible controls... it won't sell, but I don't care!

Yeah, I'm looking forward to Spiderman as well. If Insomniac can get the feeling of web slinging through New York right then this has the potential to be fantastic!

One License that I am puzzled about that no one has touched is Superman. Again, if you can get the feeling of flying all over the galaxy just right it could be really fun. Plus Superman has a pretty diverse range of villains and is not just restricted to Metropolis. Especially with the success of recent Batman titles, it should be a no brainer. Has the infamous Superman 64 really made publishers terrified of going near the man in blue?

I know, I did think that as I was writing it. I guess we haven't had one recently based on a movie though. Apocalypse Now would probably make quite a good game, I think.

Speaking of Spider-Man and other comic book properties, I've always felt that the fantastic zero-G sections in Dead Space 2 and 3 would have provided a really solid mechanical basis for an Iron Man game. Visceral really nailed the look and feel of navigating a high-tech powered exoskeleton throughout a 3D environment and the controls are tight and precise.

Superman is a really hard character from a game design perspective. Almost nothing can hurt him, so your game has to have a different kind of fail state. Probably one based around failing to save people, but then you could end up with a game that's just 10 hours of escort quests. I suspect a lot of this is why developers have tended to stay away.

I think Rocksteady's 'Arkham' game design formula would work well with another DC hero though: Green Lantern.

Elsewhere, most of the interesting things I can think of would be novels that could make for good settings for games. Peter Newman's 'The vagrant' series is a really interesting post-technology medieval setting that has some pretty interesting conflicts in it. There's all sorts of things that could be done with Ann Leckie's 'Imperial Radch' trilogy as well.

I honestly can't recall which one I played, I remember not being keen on it.

I saw a rumour Rocksteady are doing either Superman/Suicide Squad next, which is another interesting idea. But we've had 4 at the very least good infamous games in the same times we've had a bunch of crummy licensed superhero games, while they dominate the movie box office. Spider-Man 2 game in 04 or whenever that was is great, but both of the amazing spiderman movie in tie games are rubbish. It's weird.

being a big fan of fantasy books i would really love to see a wheel of time open world rpg. there is a mod for mount and blade warband that is quite good actually but a real game would be nice. having read all the 14 books in the series I've grown really find of the universe. fun fact there are actually 25 books in Finnish as they have been divided. the last three, written by a different author since the original (robert jordan) died before finishing the series, have not even been translated

I vaguely remember there was a first person Wheel of Time game a long time back, done with the Unreal Tournament engine.

well what do you know there it is. still why not make a new one. it's not been that long that the last book was released. still probably not a big demand for such a game i would imagine. there are a lot of people in the bubble i live in that would love to see it though

I was surprised there was no PS2 He-Man game in North America for the revival in the early 2000s. Same with Thunder Cats.

Also surprised there hasn't been an attempt to do an isometric style (think Wasteland 2 or Diablo) version of a Fighting Fantasy game.

The DS version of Warlock of FIretop Mountain was......okay, but I'd like to see Sorcery adapted as a big budget series.

A Battle royal/Hunger games game would be really good the rules of the events in them books automatically translate to a game. Shame no one would make a game with kids killing each other!

Battle Royale crossed with Bugsy Malone, then. The necklace round the character's throat explodes, releasing shaving foam/splurge.

There have been a lot of games influenced by Stephen King (Alan Wake and Silent Hill spring to mind) but as far as I'm aware there have been no games based on any Stephen King's books.

I would love a game based on the Dark Tower universe for example.
