Your questions for author and podcaster Richard Moss (by 3.5.18)

Post by ratsoalbion »

I shall be interviewing Richard on Thursday afternoon UK time. Please post any questions you have regarding Mac gaming or his work in general in the thread here. Many thanks.

Book: The Secret History of Mac Gaming

I'm a technology/games journalist and historian and the author of a new book called The Secret History of Mac Gaming, which is based on around 80 interviews and deep archival research. It's getting some lovely press (Retro Gamer called it a "fascinating read", for instance) and reader reviews, and I think it's absolutely something that anybody interested in games history could do with knowing about.

As such, I'd be delighted to come on and chat about the stories in the book and the Mac's place in gaming history, if you'll have me.

If you'd like to learn more about the book, there are excerpts on Ars Technica (about the Apple-Bandai Pippin, the ill-fated attempt to make a Mac game console) and on Gamasutra (about software development in the mid-to-late 1980s and specifically the making of Dark Castle, which I might add was in its original Mac format a masterclass in game design). And there's other info on the official website: http://secrethistoryofmacgaming.com/

For what it's worth, I'm a podcaster too, so I'll be able to get you nice audio quality from my end. (I produce two shows: one is a documentary-style games history podcast and the other is an interview-driven thing focused broadly around the theme of play. We could talk about those, too, or just stick to Mac gaming.)
