Call of Duty: Black Ops IIII

Post by ratsoalbion »

I haven't played a CoD since renting Black Ops 1 goodness knows how many years ago, but the excellent reviews and word of mouth for this multiplayer only entry have piqued my interest - especially talk of a PUBG beating battle royale mode.

Is anyone on this?

Me and the boys are teasing this but as big Halo/Destiny players the TTK in these CoD games makes me wince.

That said, much the same as you Leon, where keen on the Zombies and Battle Royale modes.

Funnily enough, the missing story mode is a big negative.

I have picked it up in various shops and put it back down several times.

I think paying £50 for a more ''grown up'' version of Fortnite is putting me off. The multiplayer I have never clicked with and the zombies thing I know little about. I would have picked it up with just Battle Royale for £29.99

I almost always enjoy CoD campaigns, but, BO3 was probably my least favorite, and, the brief story stuff that actually *is* in Black Ops 4 is honestly dreadful. I'm thinking the writing team at Treyarch took a hit somewhere, somehow, because they drop in story quality from BO2, onwards is significant, IMO.

That being said, I'm absolutely loving everything else about this game. Probably my favorite BO game as a whole. I'd be fine with just the standard multiplayer, but, Blackout is surprisingly well-done.

I Ioved PUBG, for a bit, until I realised it just gave me palpitations and a sense of disappointment.

Fortnite is great fun til you have to build so I just commit suicide.

This sounds like a better PUBG but I don't want something that only gives me tension and having never played much FPS besides Titanfall 2 and Destiny, I don't have the muscle memory or skills to make it competitive. I'm paying fifty notes to be cannon fodder for bastards. I get enough of that in Splatoon and employment.

In summary: Very very tempted.

I have nothing of value to add except that the game's (and this thread's) title is making my eye twitch uncontrollably.

Edit: I have nothing of value to add at all, apparently.

Interesting, first time I've heard of that! :o

However, I have a sneaking suspicion that Activision had never thought that far ahead and that this is just a happy coincidence for them, but then again I'm in a cynical mood today.

I just heard the TGCS crew wax on about this on my drive home and I’m IN.

What platform are the C&R people flocking too, Xbox ??

I only clicked the thread to also have a meltdown over the numeral error 😂

Then I noticed who'd made the thread, and thought there's no way a mistake had been made haha.

EDIT: Incidentally, we had a clock on the wall when I was a kid, with IIII instead of IV. I always thought it was wrong, but now I know!

I haven't played Call of Duty since the first one way back when, but this one is really making me itch. The idea of a smooth, slick Battle Royale in first person is very attractive to me. Some others I've talked to are in the same boat. No interest in the series, now want in on this one. The price point is a bit of stickler for me on a multiplayer-only game, but if I had paid $60 back on League of Legends, I would have still been stealing from them, so I don't know...!

Right, I'm jumping in tonight.

Got a group of us up and running, I'm a day behind them but I'm eager and up for it.

Just got to play some Animal Crossing with the wife first and I'm in.......
