Why does Nintendo make it so hard to like them sometimes? Patience is not an infinite resource.

In practice, it will mean almost nothing to me because I so rarely use voice chat on the PS4 but it's the concept which I find so ridiculous. Also, the gall to create a specific app for this when I could use one of many apps I already have if I just want to have a conversation with my mate at the same time as playing a game. There's also the 'real estate' issue. Do I really want to be fishing my phone out of my pocket to arrange a game via the console I'm holding in the other hand? Of course not. It's just so redundant. It should all be doable via the quick menu within the console, otherwise it can politely get to fuck.

I'm thinking there must be some sort of connectivity between the Switch and your mobile too, like the way that the Parental App works.

At a guess, I expect you'll be able to send invites via the Switch, then accept them on the device, or at a push accept on the Switch and it automatically connects the device.

Dunno, its mental, lol.

Have they even listed one clear advantage of doing all this as opposed to just plugging the mic directly in the console???

Never mind that not everyone has a smartphone, even among video game enthusiasts.

I assumed it's a battery life thing but who's really using voice chat on the go? I can only conclude that it's bantz.

Can't wait to witness the inevitable wave of hardcore Splatoon fans going camping or holding conference calls in trains and airplanes with their unlimited-battery-life-smartphones and magic reliable high speed portable internet. Such clarity of vision, Nintendo. Truly leading the market.

Cool, I like the way these Directs just sprung up.

I'm thinking a Switch release for Pokken,

That would be good, it's a great game that I think hardly anyone played.

The problem is, anything I can think of (Pokemon Switch, Pokken Switch) really seems like the sort of thing they could save for next week.

Dare I (we) hope that Nintendo's E3 Direct is so packed that they had to shunt something as big as a Pokemon game for Switch? Surely not!

I've never played Pokken and probably never will but I'll be disappointed if that's all this is. I've never played Pokemon, either, but I think this year is all about the big guns, overwhelm the opposition.

I vaguely remember someone leaking that the most recent Pokemon 3ds game was getting a switch version. It's probably that, decently big news for fans, but not worth hanging the e3 presentation on.

Funny, I've been thinking that for ten years now.

Yeah, you know.

I have Pokken in the Wii U and I have Pokemon Sun, which is pretty good really, even if I stopped playing it after about 20 hours.

I'm expecting it to be the rumoured port of Sun/Moon - Stars seems to ring a bell.

It'll be cool if you could port over your progress from the 3DS game to the Switch, like what the new MHXX is doing. If you can't, it'll be a problem for some. Like me.

Well I guessed right then, Pokken DX for the switch it is.

And some sun/moon gaiden games for the 3ds that probably should really by DLC but hey, whatever.

Makes no odds to me as I won't be playing it, or Pokemon, but it's not exactly a big gun. I expect it's a relatively cheap/low investment port, though, and that it'll sell much better on Switch than on Wii U.

Pokken was good I thought, did some stuff I'd never seen in fighting games before, like the 2D/3D switching.

But such as the way the Wii U went down, not enough people played it.

Kind of makes sense in that respect, Nintendo putting this Direct out before E3, hopefully this leaves more time to show off some new stuff - not just ports of games that already exist.

I wonder if my Pokken Wii U controller will work on the Switch, its USB but probably not.

A bit mad that the Switch will have three fighters in the first year, though USF2 is definitely going to be my main squeeze.
