PS3/360 games I shouldn't miss

So I'm playing through all the episodes.of cane and rinse in chronological order to fill in a few gaps that I missed at the time.

Are there any X360/PS3/Wii/WiiU games you think are must plays that have NOT been covered by the podcast?

So far the only thing I've got outside the list is Eternal Sonata, but I'm open to any suggestions regardless of genre or metacritic score

The ratchet & clank future trilogy
Resistance FOM and 3, arguably the best FPS campaign of the generation
Folklore
3D Dot Game Heroes
The Uncharted trilogy
Remember Me
God of War Ascension
The Puppeteer
InFamous 1 and 2
Killzone 2 and 3
The metal gear solid HD trilogy
Heavenly Sword
The Motorstorm series
Metal gear solid 4
Dead Space 1 and 2
The tons of PS2 remasters the PS3 got, like Sly, ratchet, final fantasy, jak and Daxter

Darksiders 2
Devil May Cry 4 (current gen Special Edition is the way to go though)
God of War: Chains of Olympus and Ghost of Sparta HD
Muramasa: The Demon Blade (Vita version is better though, so maybe a good option if you have a PSTV)
No More Heroes 2
Killer is Dead
Drakengard 3 (only if you really love Nier and can deal with mountains of jank)
Metal Gear Rising
Yakuza series (3-5 were PS3, but the whole series is on PS4 now, 0 is the best place to start)
Castlevania: Lords of Shadow 2 & Mirror of Fate HD
Forza series (at least Horizon 1, Motorsport 3 and 4 are good too, but very similar)
GRID
Split/Second
Need for Speed: Most Wanted (2005 version)
Flatout: Ultimate Carnage

I second Folklore and Remember Me as well.

Kind of a hard topic since a lot of the stuff I'd say is a genuine "must play" is covered by the podcast already. That's kind of why I ended up with a lot of racing games, just because they don't tend to get covered on the pod so much.

Yeah the podcast is a pretty solid list, it manages to almost exclusively touch on the games I missed somehow. I don't know how I missed Dead Space and Mass Effect (though I'm gonna wait for the remaster trilogy for this).

Split/Second is one of my friends favourite games, but yes these are all great examples thanks. I'm working on Luigi's Mansion, The Darkness, Fallout 3, Strangers Wrath HD, Metal Gear 2 : Solid Snake, and Shadow of the Colossus right now, soon going on to Eternal Darkness and Dead Space 2.

I've not got to Nier yet, and I have Drakenguard 1, 2 and 3, but I've never played more than a few hours of one and....it's not good. It's interesting, but it's not good.

Folklore is a great shout, I completely forgot it existed, I think part of my brain was convinced it was something to do with Eye of Judgement.

Thanks for your suggestions I will definitely play them all

Apologies, for some reason I read this as PS2 games I shouldn’t miss.

Trying to think of games not covered on the podcast is tricky, the first though that comes to mind is Velocity Ultra and Velocity 2X.

I’d also say Resistance 3 was one of that generations best FPS games that the podcast didn’t cover I don’t think.

I barely post here but this is the second time we are agreeing on how good those games are. They are really amazing though.

Would playing the first 2 be necessary would you say, Resistance wise?

No I don't think so as you play as a different character to the first couple of games. I never played the first but the second was good, just not as good as 3.

You can skip resistance 2, but resistance 1 costs just 50 pence from Cex, so I think it'd be a shame to skip it.

Lost Odyssey was a brilliant JRPG on 360 that's not been covered yet (I don't think?) and a must play if you like that sort of thing. Very Final Fantasy, probably closest to 8 in terms of visual style, but also it's own thing. I loved it, but never finished it.

Most of what I'd suggest have been covered by the podcast or the above posters, so I'll just add a few

- Mortal Kombat 2009
- Rayman Legends
- Katamari forever
- Guacamelee
- Megaman 9 / 10
- Puppeteer
- Sonic & Sega all-stars Racing Transformed

Can you still buy games from Xbox Arcade? Because if so, I would recommend Splosionman. Really hyper kinetic platformer which at times mirrors Mega Drive Sonic in its best moments when you are going through a level flawlessly and hitting the enemies at just the right time. Really enjoyed that one. My other recommendation would be Castle Crashers but only if you can play it local multiplayer with some friends. It is not great as a single player experience as enemies have way too much HP which makes the experience tedious but with 2 or more players then things get way better. Remember back in the day me and 3 mates went through the entire thing and had a great time with it.

SplosionMan is a great shout if you can download it, the sequel Ms SplosionMan to be slightly disappointing. Whatever happened to the developer Twisted Pixel? Their last game was LocoCycle in 2013!

Not so; they're still going and now making games for Oculus:

2017: Wilson's Heart
2018: B-Team
2019: Defector
2019: Path of the Warrior

I went on that website earlier and clicked straight on the 'Games' link, which for some reason only showed Lococycle as their latest release. Although even when I look now, there is only one VR game listed within their 'Games' section.

I'll voice my support for Folklore. In addition:

Afrika - yes really.
Nier
Deadly Premonition (Director's Cut)
Last Remnant
Lost Odyssey
Prey
Binary Domanin
Bloodstone 007
Drakengard 3
Lost Dimension
Majin & The Forsaken Kingdom
Nier
Ni No Kuni
Saboteur (Seriously, this is great)
Blur & Split Second - if you like arcade racing games
Sonic All Stars Racing Transformed (really)
Best of PSN Vol. 1 - for Tokyo Jungle
