Sonic & SEGA All-Stars Racing + All-Stars Racing Transformed

Post by ratsoalbion »

These games deserve their own thread.
The first is a bloody solid, SEGA flavoured kart game. The second is an almighty arcade kart racer fusing Diddy Kong Racing, OutRun 2, WipEout, F-Zero and Hydro Thunder with a ridiculous amount of SEGA fan-service - and it's not even a full price title. Fabulous stuff.

I was wavering a bit on buying this, not sure I could justify spending any more money on games this year. Then I read "Outrun 2, WipEout, F-Zero" and instantly wanted an arcadey racer to play over Christmas.

Quick trip to ShopTo later...

Oh well...

I get how it's similar to DK Racing and Hydro Thunder, but how is it similar to the other stuff?

It takes huge chunks of track design from WipEout, F-Zero X and GX, entire game modes and a lot of the handling from OutRun 2 and weapon behaviour from WipEout.

As regards to your purchase PressEsc, I would say that someone would have to actively hate both classic SEGA IP and kart racers not to get VFM from this package.

I was a huge fan of the original - it was one of my games of that year. The sequel is much more challenging but offers the same excellent racing model. Sumo Digital know how to make an excellent arcade racer!

Tried the demo of this along with all the other recent Demo's on Xbox Live. This was the only one I didn't hate.

If you're a Sega fan of the Saturn and Dreamcast era, you HAVE to check this out. It's the equivalent to a smash bros. game in terms of fan service offered.

I wanted to pick up the first game but never got round to it, so when I saw transformed in amazons Black Friday deals I grabbed it.

It's a lot of fun to play and the different types of events keep the single player exciting all the way through. I've not tried any of the multiplayer yet but I'd still recommend it, especially if your a sega fan.

Glad to hear some positive comments about this as I loved the first, but this sequel got a bit of a slating on the Official Nintendo Magazine podcast - although perhaps that was just the Wii-U version.

Mine arrived in the post this morning and I've been hitting the single player pretty hard all day. Really good fun, moreso moving up to A-class now. I've heard of folk having trouble progressing and having to knock it down to easy but I have to say that's not been my experience at all so far.

Can't seem to connect to the online multiplayer though - getting an error code from my WiiU whenever I search for a game. Hopefully I can get on there and start getting my arse kicked soon.

I've heard it's decent; a deluxe, cuter version of ModNation. I'd like to try it.

Yeah I've got the first one and played it heaps. Nothing that original or groundbreaking in it, but still great. Looking forward to getting Transformed, but will probably wait for the price to go down (hopefully after xmas)
