A stunningly delivered package. When most developers are still trying to come close to matching BioShock (1), Ken Levine and his team prove it's no fluke and deliver one of the greatest gaming worlds ever experienced. Magic.

Bioshock Infinite (PC) Loved it but it's far from perfect and it's my third favorite of the series.
Lume (PC) Strange cardboard cutout puzzle game I've had on steam for ages, It wasn't really worth the effort but it was short and charming enough.

I'd initially started this game along with a mate and played the first quarter with nothing but praise for it, switching over to a solo experience it became more of a chore and ultimately I finished it to appease to my completionist compulsions. It's not a bad game but in a year of beyond expection reboots it just didn't cut it for me.

Thinking of giving this some real effort soon, keep playing the first 4 or 5 fights and stopping to repeat from scratch 6 months down the line. Does its difficulty curve steeply ramp up as you reach the final fights or is it tolerable?PressEscToExit wrote:Punchout! (Wii)

Re: Games completed 2013
It does get pretty tricky, especially after you win the belt and have to fight everybody again with new moves and gimmicks. Towards the end I was getting repeatedly smashed by each guy 10, 15, 20 times before I could figure out a strategy and execute it properly. I enjoyed the pants off it at times but it can be pretty frustrating.

Re: Games completed 2013
Apologies for this (possibly) stupid question but I had an urge to get back into my TaeKwonDo and Jui-Jitsu training after years of being physically out of shape so I'm tempted to go motion instead of NES controls with a fresh playthrough. I am not, however, tempted to fail hundreds of times to do so. Do I stand a chance with the motion controls (haven't tried them before tbh)?PressEscToExit wrote:It does get pretty tricky, especially after you win the belt and have to fight everybody again with new moves and gimmicks. Re: Games completed 2013
I tried the motion controls a couple of times and got fed up pretty much straight away. It's nowhere near as responsive or reliable as it'd need to be to react to a lot of the trickier attacks. I imagine you could get through it playing super conservatively, only striking when the opponent is wide open after a miss, but you'd be missing out on a lot of the opportunities to do big damage that come from interrupting attacks.mikeleddy83 wrote:Apologies for this (possibly) stupid question but I had an urge to get back into my TaeKwonDo and Jui-Jitsu training after years of being physically out of shape so I'm tempted to go motion instead of NES controls with a fresh playthrough. Finnished Metro it was really interesting playing this almost just after infinite overall I really liked it even if the final third of the game is pretty weak in comparison with the rest of the game,it has some glaring problems though.

Hundreds
Mark of the Ninja
Antichamber
Castle Crashers
Mega Man 9
Bit. Trip Presents… Runner2: Future Legend of Rhythm Alien
ViViD
007: Everything or Nothing
Vivid is a short platformer (40 minutes at most) with an interesting core visual concept. The setting I played it in wasn't really ideal for me to appreciate the story, which, on reflection, was actually quite affecting, but it played all right.
Finally beat Everything or Nothing for the first time in maybe eight years. Was harder than it needed to be, since I was making myself get all gold ranks and all Bond Moments, which meant, in the former's case, that I had to beat the final three levels on the hardest difficulty. Still the best 007 game, though. Now I just need to get my brother-in-law to come around to help me with the multiplayer.
Also beat Portal again in a race against some people; and immediately afterwards, beat Antichamber again. You move really slowly in Portal.

09/04 - Thomas Was Alone (PC)
My 'welcome back' post on this thread. It's been a month of Dark Souls and I'm ecstatic to say that I've finished it. It was a little too easy by the end, but I still found it incredibly enjoyable (and almost as good as its predecessor). More on next week's podcast.
For now:
Also played through Thomas Was Alone. An excellent platform-puzzler (or is that puzzle-platformer) and a nice palate cleanser to 123 hours of Souls games!
Running total = 26
The running total includes additional and repeat playthroughs (NG+, co-op, etc.), but the list is spared them to keep it shorter.
