Uncharted Lost Legacy. I'm bored senseless of these games.
Ah that's a shame, I thought Lost Legacy perfectly distilled what Uncharted is in to a really neat short package. Genuinely a near perfect representation of the series.

It is a shame because I enjoyed the first three more or less and thought 4 was very engaging and touching. It was only when I attempted to replay it that I had a kind of gag reflex aversion to the series' tropes. I'd only heard good things about LL and I really enjoyed the first twenty minutes or so in India (and I also prefer the lower-key characters) but by the time they tried to repeat the (interminably dull) Mozambique jeep bit, I realised I couldn't stomach the formula any more.

Edit: If I'm a bit whiny, I did a marathon a couple of days ago, then got ill and I feel physically and emotionally empty!

I think I'm going to regretfully give up on completing Alien: Isolation. The level aesthetics are nice, the sound design is excellent, and the various callbacks to the original film are great, but the game itself bores me to tears. This fits neither my description of a good stealth not a good survival horror game by any stretch of the imagination. :(

I'll admit that the issue is probably on my part - looking at the RE7 thread, people apparently lose their shit over games that play themselves as long as there are a handful of jumpscares and a half-baked crafting system thrown in there for good measure. But I can't get on with this stuff whatsoever.

Dark Souls 3 replay time? Dark Souls 3 replay time.

Fired up the ol' coughy and wheezy 360 today after a long time. My son played some Split/Second and I took the opportunity to have quick sessions with Geometry Wars and Galaga Legions DX. Afterwards, I took turns playing Dig Dug with both my son and daughter, as well as Ms. Pac-Man and Pac-Man Championship Edition DX. Good times.

^ That all sounds right up my street these days. I've been really enjoying Pac-Man CE DX2 but I heard that the first game is leagues better. Not sure how or when but I'll get to it.

Not the first game necessarily, although I thought Pac-Man CE was great. The real masterpiece of the series is Pac-Man CE DX+ in the eyes of many.

The irony of building an arcade cabinet is that I've been neglecting to actually play game! So last night I dusted off an fired up Street Fighter V: Arcade Edition and play through the story mode.

I hadn't really noticed it before, because I have mixed feelings on the art-style (though I think Super Street Fighter IV on the 3DS looks fantastic), but there's an awful lot of clipping and glitchy-ness with the graphics. Cammy's long blonde locks for example seem to not get along very well with her shoulders. And any sort of cape or loose clothing seems to exist on it's own plane of reality.

By contrast, the Guilty Gear series (which runs on the Unreal engine of all things) always looks smooth, consistent and fantastically. That's the advantage of animating in a more tradition manner, which allows for more elasticity and flexibility in movement, and visual consistency.

Of course, the Guilty Gear series, as much as I love it, is considerably more impenetrable to the casual gamer, and I'd recommend the Street Fighter series to that audience. It's just all the clipping and glitches kind of take me out of that suspension of disbelief, which makes it harder to sell the bonkers storyline of Street Fighter V!

But really, that's my main gripe - a preference of one animation/art-style over another. Still a fun game at the end of the day.

What does + really add besides more elaborate leaderboards and Facebook functionality? My title screen says + as well, and I've been wondering.

I never looked into 2, not sure why. Maybe because the first is so infinitely absorbing and replayable?

+ didn’t add much more than that but the paid dlc released simultaneously added new courses and music.

Still playing Captain Toad, I now have all Diamonds, all bonus objectives, all Pixel Toads – across all 4 books.

As I finally beat my final bonus objective last night (which took me a while) to cross everything off, it unlocked another set of secret pages in the final Bonus book. Bloody bonus’ in bonus’ here !!!

I want to nail this totally before I move onto anything else. It’s been so enjoyable.

Crikey, I did not know there was that much content in it (I played most of the Wii U version).

Mate, I'd played the Wii U version too with its 3 Volumes but I'd say the Switch version is at least another quarter long with it's bonus book.

It just keeps going  .

It tops out at 202 Diamonds, all the bonus tasks and Pixel Toads, which will then open the final chapter of the bonus book.

The Bonus Book, incidental, I unlocked early by using a Odyssey amiibo - so I'm not sure when that naturally unlocks.

I've got a burning urge to return to The Witcher 3. Wish I hadn't sold my copy because the DLC is on sale now 😣

Did some training mode in Ultimate Marvel vs. Capcom 3 last night, with a thematic team of Wesker, brainwashed Jill and Nemesis. Tricky team to work with, but they have some potential for nasty setups and Jill has some reliable air combos, ending in a satisfying spike. Feel like I'm getting slightly better at this game and understanding its rhythm better, 7 years in.

Typical combos in the game are linear, but all characters have certain specific moves that act as combo extenders or buffers to lead into longer combos. Lots of study work.

Sounds like a boom team, that.

Not being into the fighting scene I had no idea that these charters were even in a fighting game.

Google images delivers.

Yeah, they look great in there. Great and loving attention to detail in their animations and move sets. Wesker pulls a missile out of the air and throws it down in his level 3 hyper combo! And Nemesis turns into his ghastly final, pre-fried form for his level 3. Felt compelled to mess around with them, due to playing all the Resident Evil games, this year, no doubt.

I do this often, play a game, then investigate the spin off's and such, the older the game/character the better.

I'm currently well into Wario stuff.

Whenever I play the Warioware games I’m reminded of the movie Mystery Men. “We’re not like those heroes, we’re the other guys”. I genuinely love the weird assortment of characters they have in there and think it’s a shame they don’t get to join in the crossover fun in Mario Kart (Mona rides a scooter! She’d fit right in!), Smash Brothers, Tennis, Party... why you hate the misfits Nintendo? Why?

Myself I’m currently playing Assassin’s Creed Oranges and really quie enjoying the changes to the basic formula. Makes me even more interested in Odyssey than I already was after E3.

The only Assassin's Creed game I've actively sat down to play is Oranges - not my cup of tea really.

The gameplay is fine, I rather enjoyed the level/area/instance design too, it's just the wrapping around it all I'm not that into.

Regards actually playing stuff, I jumped back into the very deep end of Captain Toad, which is the last 4 pages of the bonus book, well to be more accurate the first of the final 4, as I need to collect 5000 coins to satisfy the goal and turn the page. It's Mummy-Me mission that's never-ending you just have to collect coins.

The highest I've gotten is 948, so I'm not sure if that is ever going to happen.

I'm also into WarioLand on the GameBoy, which I'm playing on my GameCube, which is cool. I can't remember ever finishing it back when I was younger. Such a different game to Six Golden Coins.

Then, last night, I started Octopath Traveller on the sofa with some headphones. I'm only two hours in but I'm very much enjoying the battle system and the art style. The story is interesting and I want to see what unfolds. I chose Therion and have just bumped into H'aanit and we're about to go wreck off some beast in the woods. The sheer length of this game daunts me though. Another Xenoblade I hope it is not.
