It would be a good one to do, but we'd need to get some expert guests in. Also, actually completing Pokemon games is just a wee bit time consuming, as you know!

Perhaps 2 or 3 of us could commit to finishing X/Y and use that as a basis to look back at the franchise.

It is, very much so. Hope it goes well, the pokemon series is really a great one to look at.

I've recommended these two games for the podcast elsewhere before but they're worth repeating: MM: CLASH OF HEROES (best puzzle/RPG ever made) and WARIO LAND: THE SHAKE DIMENSION (hugely enjoyable and actually rather tough 2D platformer for Wii that is vastly underrated in my opinion).

I quite fancy doing Wario World (Treasure, Gamecube) and Wario Land, but we haven't even started on Mario or Zelda yet so don't expect anything soon!

Well aware of Capy's work too, rest assured.

Zelda would make for a stupendously long franchise run of shows. Count me in ;)

As a compromise, let's do Oracle of Ages and Oracle of Seasons in one issue. That should keep the run down to about a year and two months...

Just how many games are there not including the garbage CDi games.

Here's a list from memory.

The Legend of Zelda.
Links Adventure
Link to the Past
Links Awakening
Ocarina of Time (Master Quest, too!)
Oracle of Seasons/Ages
Minish Cap
Four Swords
Majoras Mask
Wind Waker/HD
Phantom Hourglass
Spirit Tracks
Twiglet Princess
Skyward Sword

Yup, that's a lot!

Oh no, I hope not! That Tingle game wasn't all that if I recall correctly.

I do however remember Tetra Trackers being a riot. Probably be impossible to pay it again now, mind.

Ha ha, no - couldn't make the guys (or myself) play through every spin-off!

Four Swords and Four Swords Adventures are pretty ace though :D

Ah fair enough. They're not great anyway, so you're not missing much.

And, of course, A Link Between Worlds, which would almost certainly be out by the time you got through most of the other games.

I have been having a think and have hit on these possibilities, partly ones I have played and ones that would give me a good excuse to start.

Warhammer 40K: Dawn of War II
Company of Heroes

Both a part of a relatively under-represented genre in the Cane and Rinse stable, both bring a style of RTS that focuses on a smaller number of units used tactically. The discussion of tactical uses, play styles and how the team members adapted to having a smaller, more targeted, set of units to play about with would be fascinating in many respects.

Legend of Grimrock

From what I understand punishingly tough so may not be something that can be finished in an acceptable time frame for the podcast but I thought I would suggest it anyway as it appears to be a game that many interesting points could come from, plus I need a good excuse to start it.

Mario & Luigi RPG's - Any of many

Probably does not work for as a franchise selection but picking out some of the stellar ones may not be a bad choice. Bowsers Inside Story gets a great write up and may be a good point to pick as a highlight of the series, in the same way that Persona 4 Golden was selected as part of the Persona RPG's.

Viewtiful Joe (not the sequel)

Big and brash this is the brawler that contained much of what Capcom did well during the PS2/GameCube era with fantastic style and great mechanics.

God Hand

More Clover goodness, this time wrapped up in just about every type of crazy you could possibly imagine.

Manhunt

I really liked how tense and creepy it was, would be good to hear others views.

The Binding of Isaac

Another one I want to try at some point and therefore another excuse to recommend to you

FTL

Purely for the great stories and discussions that could come out of this fascinating title.
The main issue I can see in some of these recommendations is that the roguelikes and RPG's take too long to finish and some of the titles can only be sourced if you have the right hardware and software but what the hey, I thought it was worth putting it out for discussion.
Right, that’s it. Honest.
