According to any and every dictionary, the word 'game' has more than one definition, including:
An activity that one engages in for amusement or fun.
and
A form of competitive activity or sport played according to rules.
https://en.oxforddictionaries.com/definition/game

So yes.

I go by the definition established by my mother and my sister, in that yes, they're all games, because they hate video games! Can't please everyone I guess.

I used to love doing Snakes and Ladders. It's my favourite board activity.

JAPJAC, you've never heard of Dark Souls?

You've...missed out.

I'm not sure what to say.

That 'game' looks mint thank you. Proper game right there. Now on the lookout for a Superplay DVD for it. zzzz zzz.
I'm not sure whether you're being entirely sincere but I'd recommend the game over pretty much anything else I've played. In terms of mechanics, rewarding challenge, world building and environmental storytelling, it's as good as it gets.

I'm mostly just surprised you've not heard of it!

Speaking of adding things to the long list, Mr JAPJAC can add Cane and Rinse to the long list of games forums from which he's been banned.

Either he is:

1. A construct; a tiresome but impressively long-running piece of performance art

2. An objectionable, spectacularly un-self aware, egomaniac, narcissistic spunkclown

3. Seriously mentally ill

4. A combination of the above

In any case, we don't have the time, patience or inclination to suffer him as our guest here.

Go Googling if you're interested - there is entertainment to be had.

Bloody hell, I only dipped my toe in the wealth of material online and that was enough. I think Leon summed it up perfectly.

It's difficult to know whether he actually believes the things he says or was just trolling. The former baffles me, the latter more so.

Banned eh. Good call.

We discussed whether - as he hadn't been directly abusive to anyone - we should give him a fair chance. But apparently he's been doing exactly the same thing over and over for at least 10-15 years so elected to pull the trigger preemptively.

Not something we would normally do but we made a special case based on evidence.

Out of curiosity, how far back can our suggestions go? Sega's 'Streets of Rage?' I just rediscovered my childhood with this :')

There's no limit to how far we go back. One of our most recent shows was recorded a day after a game's 35th anniversary (Joust).

Having said that there's no way we can really play Tennis For Two or Space War authentically!

It's a long shot, as the learning curve is famously bordering on effing vertical, not to mention the fact that even by the creator's own admission, the game will probably be in Alpha forever, but I'd love to hear the CAR crew's thoughts on Dwarf Fortress, and particularly the concept of FUN in the game.

Other notable games I'd like to see/hear (no doubt most of which are already on the list):

Command & Conquer
The Stanley Parable
Timesplitters series
Thief series
Rogue
Road Rash series

Yep, all on there! :)
(Though I think Leon might've only just added Dwarf Fortress.)

Full series is already on the list! :)

No promises, of course, but even if they're already on the list, these requests remind us that certain games/series are oft-requested and could push them to the front of our collective minds come scheduling time. Keep 'em coming! :D
