Welcome and thanks for your suggestions Hungry.

The Elder Scrolls games have been requested many, many times and have been a fixture on the list since the beginning. One day we'll work out how to tackle that series...

Surprisingly BF:BC2 wasn't on the list even though Jay, Karl and myself all played a ton of it. Now added.

I've added Medal of Honor: Airborne but I don't anticipate a huge amount of enthusiasm for that one. The plan was to do MoH:AA (which we did) and then at some point move on to Call of Duty (1/Classic).

Anyone ever play Silent Bomber on the PS1? It was a brilliant, and criminally overlooked, action game in which you attacked by throwing sticky bombs at enemies and then detonating them. It had some great boss fights, and I'd desperately love to see a remake - I'd even be happy with an EU release on the PSN store as a PS1 classic. I believe Japan has had it for some time.

Anyway - it would make for a cool show.

Good shout - added to the biiig list. Also tempted now to add Silent Service and Silent Scope too!

I have added Gunners Heaven (aka Rapid Reload) though.

I only realised a year back that Rapid Reload wasn't a Treasure game, it was pretty good regardless.

I thought I'd chime in.

1) One thing I've noticed is that RPGs tend to be a little underrepresented on this podcast, probably out of time management concerns. One that I would suggest would be Baten Kaitos on the Gamecube. I think it would be a good candidate.

- It is a very good and unique game with some interesting design decisions.
- It is not very well known and your show could expose it to some of its potential audience.
- The plot has... interesting elements to it. (Careful while researching!)
- It has quite a few flaws like the voice acting, which would make for a nuanced analysis.

2) I know you already did a show on Fire Emblem Awakening, but I would be very interested in hearing some of you guys' thoughts on some of the more classic games in the series. The prospect of going through them all could be a little daunting, especially given that a lot of them were never released outside of Japan. But if you were willing to squeeze at least one into your schedule, I think that Fire Emblem: Blazing Sword (or just Fire Emblem in the west) for the GBA might be a good choice.
This one: http://tinyurl.com/pfruroa

- It is one of the (if not _the_) best designed and balanced games in the series. Great pacing and mission variety.
- It does a very good job of explaining its mechanics in the beginning, which is something that a lot of other tactical or strategy games could learn from.
- It's available on the european Wii U eshop, which would be an easy and rather inexpensive option for you.

3) The 999 show was great. Where's Virtue's Last Reward?!

4) I'm sure both are already on the list, but the classic Resident Evil and entire Metroid series would be perfect for your format. Not too long to beat, easily available and overall very well-designed games.

5) Trials? Trials.

6) Last but not least, Ninja Gaiden Black! It's still one of the best game of its genre (and my personal favourite). I believe that the gentleman with the delightful accent is already a connoisseur?

Hi new here been listening to quite a few of the Cane and Rinse podcasts and would like to add a couple suggestions for future show subjects

1, Kings Field, The precursor to the souls series would make a good show either doing the whole series as a single show or focusing on the fourth iteration the Ancient City on the ps2.

2, Hybrid Heaven, This game is a bit of a guilty pleasure for myself according to rumours this game was originally designed to be a metal gear game for the N64 but turned out to be a kind of cyber punk conspiracy themed RPG with interesting game mechanics.

3, Baroque, originally a first person Sega Saturn Japanese exclusive rogue like RPG that got a western release on the ps2 and Wii with updated graphics and third person mode.

anyhow really enjoy the podcast and keep up the great work guys

Trying to think of polarising games that'd make for a good debate, and I wondered about ZombiU? Seems topical given the rerelease and I know it divides opinion. Would be interested to hear what you guys had to say on it...

Baten Kaitos sounds super expensive to play though. Goes for mad prices these days.

Great suggestions!

As you already surmised, KSubzero1000, time is absolutely one of the constraints that limits more RPGs being covered. Fear not, many are on the big list (now standing at nearly 1000 games).

I can reassure you all that VLR, the Resident Evil series, the Metroid series, Trials, Ninja Gaiden (Darren F is quite the fan, and a shoe-in to guest as/when they are covered) and ZombiU are all on the list too.

I'll pop the others (Vectorman/2, Baten Kaitos, Fire Emblem: BS, King's Field, Hybrid Heaven and Baroque) onto the list too. Though, chase210 is right, another big constraint is how many of us have either already played a game or can obtain and play it easily and/or cheaply. Hope that all makes sense.

Once again, thanks for the suggestions. We have a daunting task ahead of us if we are to cover every game on the list, but rest assured we'll try!

Hey guys, I'm also a new poster to the forums. I've been listening to the podcast more or less nonstop for the last several months and I think it's really special podcast.

I completely understand the challenges of doing JRPGs for the show, but if you all do decide to do one I just wanted to throw my support behind Ni No Kuni: Wrath of the White Witch. I know Leon played it and I think it would make for a really interesting discussion. I found parts of it to be the best in the genre and other parts to be incredibly frustrating. Keep up the good work!

May I suggest the 1997 Blade runner game. I really loved the story and it did have some interesting and diffract game play features for a point and click game. It would also be interesting to talk about how the game took elements from the film and book and tried to tie them together.

Have any text adventures been considered? Not for everyone I guess, but I grew up playing games like The Hobbit, Lord Of The Rings, Kwah! and others. There's still a thriving community of developers/writers and fans about. More recent stuff like Andrew Plotkin's Spider & Web is a fantastic little game, really playing with the conventions of story telling. Even if not covered on a C&R podcast, I'll still recommend people play that game in particular.

EDIT : I mean, I say recent. It came out in 1998 :o

It's something I've thought about a lot, but I'd need a specialist team to join me I think.

I know how to program them in BASIC if that helps?

(Everyone has to get their start somewhere, that was mine. When I was about 8. They were mostly about Batman. And awful. Kinda wish I still had them.)

Yeah I used to love programming text adventures in BASIC, and then later Graphic Adventure Creator. Mine were terrible. Almost always just another take on the 'there's a killer in your house' idea
