Machinarium is great! If you havent already try botanicula it's simpler but I still really like it,2 of the few point and click that I can get into.Roy42 wrote: I still think Machinarium is the best point-and-click to come out in the last few years. I also still think that bit with the bird is completely unintuitive, and never fails to kill all momentum the game has up to that point.

I had thought Botanicula was an Incredible Machine-esque puzzle game; am I thinking of something else?Todinho wrote:Machinarium is great! If you havent already try botanicula it's simpler but I still really like it,2 of the few point and click that I can get into.Roy42 wrote: I still think Machinarium is the best point-and-click to come out in the last few years. Just saw that was in my steam list! Ah, the beauty of losing games in literally the hundreds I have. Installing now! Looks to be right up my alley.

02/01 - Tearaway
05/01 - Lego Marvel Superheroes (Vita) - I found this a complete chore to play, it's fun for the first couple of levels and then like the other lego games drags.

Ocarina of Time 3D (3DS)
Timeless Zelda experience that's made me reassess my Zelda hierachy - thus meaning I need to replay A Link To The Past. No bad thing.
Attack of the Friday Monsters! A Tokyo Tale
I reckon this and Ni no Kuni form Level-5's 'childhood whimsy' duology. Bags of charm.

Brothers: A Tale Of Two Sons.
Lovely art style, beautiful sound track but it never quite got its claws into me like it has some people. Great use of controls and fun to play. Highly recommended it.

6/1 The Walking Dead S2 Ep1
After the luke warm 400 days I was worried that the second session was not going to be as strong as the first. thankfully my fears where unfounded.

Before I came back to miserable old uni I 100%ed Mario 3D Land, did the whole thing in Coop with my brother which made it about 10 times harder. An absolutely brilliant game full of wonderful ideas and joy. My game of the year too.

Re: Games Completed 2014
I joined part way through last year, so may as well start fresh for 2014.
03/01 - The Last of Us
Got bought a PS3 for Christmas and this was first on my list. I wasn't disappointed, though Bioshock:Infinite still stands as my favourite game of 2013; for me the visuals in B:I were unlike anything I'd ever seen before, while the Last of Us was pretty but had kind of been seen before in a lot of other films (The Road, I Am Legend).

02/01 - The Legend of Zelda: A Link Between Worlds
06/01 - Final Fantasy XIII-2
07/01 - Super Mario 3D Land
Loved Zelda, enjoyed FF XIII-2 once it opened up but surprisingly found SM3DL both too easy and hard to control.

07/01/2014 - Amnesia: A Machine For Pigs
Which (while not really scary in any sense) has a beautiful aesthetic and some interesting ideas and concepts. Even if I did have to do two separate bugfixes to be able to complete the damn thing. PC gaming master race my arse.
Up next: The Swapper!

Re: Games Completed 2014
My first of the year :
07 JAN - DmC Devil May Cry (PS3)
I loved it! I've never played a Devil May Cry game before, but from the limited footage I've ever seen I'd pegged it as a 'God Of War with demons and stuff', and whilst that may be cheapening the franchise somewhat, I wasn't far wrong. Having never played the series before, I had no previous DmC experience to compare back to having heard quite a lot of criticism for the game from die-hard series fans, but I totally enjoyed every minute of it. Excellent combat, looked gorgeous, wickedly fun bosses, the whole game was an absolute blast from start to finish. I can't really think of a single flaw in the whole game. Fantastically paced, people have said the story made no sense but yeah, I guess it's about demons coming in to the world, it's hardly rocket science. I can imagine a few people weren't overly keen on the soundtrack but I really liked the mixture of industrial / teschno / dubstep. Also, it introduced me to Combichrist, who I have been inflicting on my poor workmates all week, haha. Yep, top game, great way to start the year. Looking forward to the sequel! (Proof, also that PS+ does drive sales. I wasn't particularly interested in buying this game at all, but having now played the first for 'free', I'll definitely be buying the second when it's out - if they make one).
Has there been a C&R on this game, yet?
