Carrying on from the somewhat popular (51 pages!) "Games Completed 2013" thread, here's the all new and improved 2014 edition!

Finished God of War: Ascension today! A great addition to the series even if it started to burst at the seams by the end. Bugs galore! It does, however, look as good as Halo 4 and The Last of Us. An amazing achievement for those boxes.

01/01 - Paper Mario: The Thousand Year Door
01/01 - Super Monkey Ball (Easy Levels)
01/01 - Super Monkey Ball (Advanced Levels)

In early 2013 I'd helped find a glitch using Flurrie on doors. Unfortunately it doesn't have any real use yet; though some interesting things happen when you use it, there's no way to sequence break anything with it. It gives me hope that someone will then find an application of it that makes speedrunning the game more interesting; people apparently thought the original Paper Mario was unbreakable, until they discovered that it's nothing near it, but the sequel has held strong, with only a couple of very minor glitches throughout the whole game. Anyway, the point of all that is that I had a Thousand Year Door save about half-complete and went back to finish it off, since it's been a few years. Still an absolute delight to play.

And I gave Monkey Ball another go while listening to the podcast, and got through Easy and Advanced.

01/01 - Paper Mario: The Thousand Year Door
01/01 - Super Monkey Ball (Easy Levels)
01/01 - Super Monkey Ball (Advanced Levels)
02/01 - TRAUMA

A point-and-click with an interesting art style, resonant themes, steadily more tedious gameplay and basically no payoff. I don't remember how much I paid for TRAUMA, but I wouldn't recommend it either way.

I started Trauma last month and finished the first 2 (of the 4) sections with all photo's and, despite me being excited to play it, I was left feeling like it was one of the worst gaming experiences I've had. It was cringeworthy with its writing and narration.

Broken Sword 5 - Part 1 (PC)

Maybe a bit rougher around the edges than I hoped but I was very glad to be back pointing and clicking with George and Nico.
I look forward to part two.

03.01 - Mirror's Edge // Playstation 3

One of the last games I completed last year is the first of this year. I couldn't resist running through on Hard. Such a great experience.

Super Stardust Delta - (Vita)
I got the hero of the galaxy trophy to say I've completed all the planets but I'm far from done with the game. The best I've played in the Stardust series and one of the best games I've tried on the Vita.

Broken Sword 5 - Part 1 (PC) $50 Kickstarter (included all previous Revolution games on GOG)

Maybe a bit rougher around the edges than I hoped but I was very glad to be back pointing and clicking with George and Nico.
I look forward to part two.

Super Stardust Delta - (Vita) £7.99
I got the hero of the galaxy trophy to say I've completed all the planets but I'm far from done with the game. The best I've played in the Stardust series and one of the best games I've tried on the Vita.
Guacamelee! (PS3/Vita) £7.99
Played up to the last boss on PS3 and got so frustrated with the colour coded shields that I completely gave up (I'm colour blind by the way).
I never thought I'd finish it but when I was given a Vita I saw I had Guacamelee available to download so I gave it another try. Synced my save and bashed my head against a wall for a few hours before the credits.
Other than the colour stuff this game would have hit my top 10 last year easy. It nailed everything it set out to do in the gameplay department and the graphics and music are great. I understand the humour is too internety for some people but it didn't bother me. Easy to ignore.

I think I'll play along with this this year :) I'll only update once a month or so, but here's what I'm starting the year off with so far:

Jan 1: Lego Marvel Super Heroes (PC) (story completion)
Jan 1: SigCorp: Holiday Special (PC)
Jan 2: Cookie Clicker (PC) (bought everything I can buy, have 100 of each item save grandmas and pointers of which I have 200 :P)
Jan 3: Botanicula (PC)

Jan 1: God of War Ascension - Cost £6.30.
Jan 3: Uncharted Golden Abyss - Cost Free*

This year is one of me trying to keep costs down in favour of me saving up for other life events which take priority. After doing the super massive podcast of the year, I realise just how much I played and it scared me a bit. I'm allowed one year off from buying ALL THE GAMES, right?

All prices listed denote money spent in 2014 on games.

*PlayStation Plus "Free"

Where did you get God of War so cheap?

01/01 - Paper Mario: The Thousand Year Door
01/01 - Super Monkey Ball (Easy Levels)
01/01 - Super Monkey Ball (Advanced Levels)
02/01 - TRAUMA
03/01 - Machinarium

I still think Machinarium is the best point-and-click to come out in the last few years. I also still think that bit with the bird is completely unintuitive, and never fails to kill all momentum the game has up to that point.

I like that idea. I might put the prices by mine if I can remember them

04/01 - Castlevania: Lament of Innocence (9 hours, 10 minutes)

I always intended to join in with this last year, but I forgot about it once I started actually finishing games. I was really annoyed at myself for that. I won't make the same mistake this time round!

I put a hold on buying games and was able to get an Xbox One, Playstation 4 and a new TV. Definitely buying less games this year to put a little bit of a saving together.

Dragon's Crown(VITA)-Been playing this pretty much non-stop since christimas but it's that type of game that only really starts when you finnish it for the first time so when I say I completed it I mean I've pretty much done everything the game has: Beaten the game on infernal mode, beaten floor 9 of the labyrinth, done every sidequest and finnished the game once for every character(6).So Yeah Im done with this game for good,it's pretty fun though I know it's a 2D Beaten-up but if It's closer to stuff like Diablo than anything else, there's alot of attention to detail and every character manages to feel unique, there's few stages though so expect to revisit the same stage several times to do sidequests, the artstyle despite it's depiction of women sometimes(which is pretty bad) is great and the galery is a great incentive to do the sidequests especially for the art made by Emika Kida and Yukiko Hirai.
So yeah a great game that nails what it was going for with lots to do but right now I never wanna touch it again XD.
