Mark of the Ninja
This game is really impressive. A 2D stealth game, that has a lot of mechanics that help communicate a lot of information to the player. I have really enjoyed it so far.

Wow, and it's doing great on MetaCritic too:

So this is out right now on XBLA! I buy immediately!
It's 1200MSP (£10.20) btw.

Re: Mark of the Ninja
Looks like the same art style as Shank up close.
Those directional kills look amazing (had a thing for unique animation in games since Metal Slug)! Might have to get this.

I'm not a fan of Klei's earlier stuff, but, most of all, I don't much care for their art style.mikeleddy83 wrote:Looks like the same art style as Shank up close.
I'll still try the demo later tonight, thanks to the really positive word of mouth, but, I remain apprehensive, that it just might not be my thing.

You'd be all over it like a cheap suit if it was a PSN exclusive, Sean.

Haha, is it baloney or bologna in this context?
Regardless, I tried the demo and it was pretty cool!

Re: Mark of the Ninja
Completed Mark of the Ninja. Pretty god damn great from start to finish. It completely avoids falling into the traps some stealth games do, like having boss battles for example. The story isn't bad, but it is completely dull. But it doesn't matter, the sheer joy you get from the mechanics are enough to drive you forward. New Game + looks promising too. You keep all the upgrades and equipment you bought during your first play through, but it removes the line of sight and sound indicators. I think up for that challenge.
Re: Mark of the Ninja
I need to check out the video of this. I used to absolutely love stealth games a few years back, but as the time to play things became more of an issue I left the trial and error game style behind a bit. From what I hear, that isn't an issue in this game as it is clear when you can be seen and so on? Is that accurate?
Re: Mark of the Ninja
Haha baloney! Didn't think that was actually used outside of film stereotypes.

Yes. The game communicates a lot to the player using very clear visual cues, such as the colour scheme of your character changing when in shadow, and sound producing ripples on screen so you can see how far it travels.magicjoef wrote:I need to check out the video of this. Nice, I like the idea of the sound ripples. I'll check out the demo!
Re: Mark of the Ninja
I really like the game, but the art style just doesn't do it for me. It looks like crappy java animation.

Completely agree with you PapaBlingo, I know KayinAmoh feels the same too. Does absolutely nothing for me (nor did Shank). Plays good though.

Re: Mark of the Ninja
I think the animation looks great, reminds me of Samurai Jack.
Re: Mark of the Ninja
The animation and backgrounds are great, it's just that the character design kind of blows. Big, meatheaded enemies all over the place with big blocky builds.
Re: Mark of the Ninja
I don't really like their art style either--and it would have been nice to see that changed up, since the game is so different from Shank. But I can live with it since the game is so good.
Re: Mark of the Ninja
Loving this game, finished the first run through and a few missions on NG+, the different suits you unlock add a lot to this game in terms of playing style, ninja V killing machine.
You owe it to yourself to at least download the demo

Re: Mark of the Ninja
Animations are fine, such as stealth kills, just boring character design. Environment in the demo did little for me either.Combine Hunter wrote:I think the animation looks great, reminds me of Samurai Jack.
