It launched on Apple Arcade a while back, so it’s not that new to fans of the series I guess.

That's definitely part of it, but that release was only part of the game, branded as being the first "episode". Not sure how much of the game that was, it sounds like perhaps it was about half of it. Now the full game is out. Also I'm doubtful that the majority of Shantae fans have signed up for Apple Arcade.

It does look decent but a word of mild caution - the average review score for Skellattack is currently sitting at 69%, with only 40% of critics recommending the game:

Hmm, 69% isn't too bad, but only 40% of reviews recommending the game makes it a harder sell. One to pop on the list for a sale then, perhaps. Shame as it does look nice. I think it's more straight up action platforming than any kind of MetroidVania type thing, too, which surprised me these days.

Also out this week is Alwa's Legacy, the sequel to Alwa's Awakening. Awakening was a fun little indie title that had some moments that made want to tear my hair out, but I liked enough to back the kickstarter for the second. While the first was a NES-style game, the new one is more inspired by the SNES. Its out on Steam & GOG.

West Of Dead also out this week. Today in fact!

This release date was only announced over the weekend, so missed that list by dez.

Available to buy on Xbox One, Windows PC, Steam, GOG and Humble. Notably though, it's on Game Pass for both Xbox and PC.

Switch and PS4 release in August.

Across the Groove is out on Steam and Switch today. £17.99 on the latter half that on steam.

An interactive graphic novel that looks very much my cup of tea

Couple of ex Lionhead colleagues of mine on West of Dead. They did ‘Marvellous Miss Take’ and ‘Deadbeat Heroes’ before this one.

West Of Dead had a great showing on the Guerrilla Collective's Day 3 developer interview and gameplay stream, I thought. Adam Langridge was on as the dev representative for Upstream Arcade, and gave a great account of the game.
Worth a watch if you're interested in West Of Dead:

West Of Dead starts at 1h17m20s or so.
(Games shown in order were Iron Harvest 1920+, Say No! More, Boyfriend Dungeon, 30XX, West Of Dead, System Shock, and The Eternal Cylinder)

Adam was my direct line manager on Fable the Journey, one of the most enthusiastic designer / coder types I know.

Just had a go on the Mr Driller demo on Switch. Seems very good if that’s your bag!

Anyway, also noticed P-47 is out of Arcade Archives. Never played the original version before, though I wasn’t that hard done by with the Spectrum version.

There’s not a lot that ever really excites me (except weekly Arcade Archives releases), but I can’t wait for Bloodstained 2! Finished the first one again recently, finished Super Castlevania IV again last week, and the prospect of more of the same that I’ve never played before is great!
