Here's the latest episode of our weekly podcast dedicated to videogame music – Sound of Play

For many of us, it’s hard to think of almost any videogame without our minds conjuring up the music that accompanied it. What we aim to bring you with Sound of Play is a diverse sample of our favourite pieces from the many air-punching, spine-tingling, tear-jerking and grin-inducing videogame soundtracks we’ve heard over the years. Of course it’s not just about what we like, so if you venture over to our forum at caneandrinse.com you can put forward your favourites and we’ll start to include a selection in the playlist for each show.

This show’s presenters were: Leon Cox and Tony Atkins

with community contributions from Macstat, Chortles, Follow My Ruin and Jobobonobo

Track listing for this show is as follows:

Track 1: Jodie’s Suite by Lorne Balfe - Beyond: Two Souls, 2013
Track 2: Mariachi Madness by Christophe Héral/Billy Martin - Rayman Legends, 2013
Track 3: Menu Music by Harumi Ueko - International Superstar Soccer 64, 1997
Track 4: Betus Blues by Danny Baranowsky - Super Meat Boy, 2010
Track 5: Precinct Siege by Ola Strandh - Tom Clancy’s The Division, 2016
Track 6: Battle Against a Weird Opponent by Keiichi Suzuki/Hirokazu Tanaka - EarthBound (Mother 2)
Track 7: Road 2 Infinity by Chuck E. Myers - Disney Infinity, 2013
Track 8: Queen Sectonia (Phase 1) by Hirokazu Ando/Jun Ishikawa - Kirby: Triple Deluxe, 2014
Track 9: Patapon Song by Kemmei Adachi/Daisuke Miyake - Patapon, 2007

I believe Leon mentioned this in the episode, but I'd like to say after hearing that Rayman track: More songs need kazoos! (and it made me wish I hadn't sold my copy of the game)

Also, the Patapon track was excellent, does anyone know what the best way to download the soundtrack would be? I've looked around and can't seem to find any legitimate places to purchase it, but I may not be looking hard enough.

Cheers for playing my Kirby request! I forgot about the wonderful samba music in ISS 64. I am not big into football but I have had great memories of that game, that overly excited commentator was what made that game such a blast to play. And I have heard of Patapon but never heard the soundtrack, I really dug it! Top episode as always, lads!
