Here's the latest episode of our weekly podcast dedicated to videogame music – Sound of Play

In this special 80th edition of Sound of Play, we turn our focus to Namco’s Katamari Damacy series. From the King of All Cosmos’ grand entrance into the world in 2004 to a smartphone game in 2016, we bring you seventeen tracks from six titles from within the Katamari series.

This show’s presenters are Ryan Hamann and Leah Haydu.

The final track made me feel things.

We had a hard time choosing between that track and this one for the finale.

I elected for the one that we featured on the show because of the brilliance of the composition. The children singing leads us to expect a much simpler composition that we end up receiving. The violins play an absolutely ravishing countermelody, especially towards the end of the song, and the piece absolutely divides my soul in two. I'm glad you also liked it :)
