I enjoyed this episode over the last couple of days, and inspired by the chat about how the name Cane and Rinse came out, I attempted to add the phrase 'cane and rinse' to Urban Dictionary.
It was rejected.
Twice.
The chat also, however, reminded me of how the phrase cane and rinse became a euphemism in my house for, erm... well, I'm just going to say it - having a... erm, wank.
OK, just hear me out...
It all came about, so to speak, a couple of years ago. I was tired and didn't want to watch anything on TV so decided to go to bed early. My girlfriend mildly protested as we were meant to be watching something together. As it happens, when I went to bed, I ended up messing around on my phone for ages, just reading stuff online and looking at this forum.
Later on, she came to bed, and as she walked in the room I just so happened to be kicking the cover on the bed whilst simultaneously putting my phone down.
"Oh I see, what you been up to?" she said.
"Nothing!" I protested. "Just reading!"
"Oh, just reading" she smirked.
"I was reading Cane and Rinse" I replied.
"OK" she winked.
And ever since then, if I ever go upstairs and take my phone with me, she says, "Ooh, just off for a quick Cane and Rinse...?" whilst laughing.
That may sound funny, but let me tell you, it's become rather tiresome.
And that, my friends, is how Cane and Rinse became a synonym for giving myself a little treat.
