I agree with this sentiment but will still watch the soul destroying match against Georgia on Saturday. In good news, Shane Duffy has been declared fit. :D

MLS starts tomorrow and I'm in. I've got ESPN+, I'm rooting for my New England Revolutions and I've read very simple children's books explaining the rules!

Does anyone here watch MLS?

#UltimateQuaranTeam

For those who are missing their football Leyton Orient’s media team have set up a huge 128 team FIFA tournament featuring teams from around the world. The teams all nominate a club representative and battle it out. Rather bizarrely all the betting companies are posting odds and it looks like some clubs are cheating by getting esports players involved.

I think they are streaming most matches on Twitch. It’ll be a shame if it’s not player vs player.

Some footy teams already run their own esports teams, and not just in fifa. Barcelona, Espanyol, Monaco and Paris St Germain all run rocket league teams for example.

For anyone interested the first game is at 5pm GMT with Leyton Orient vs Lokomotiv Moscow!

A whole host of other games at 7pm.

My team Millwall playing Hibernian tomorrow at midday streamed on the Millwall Lions Player. A lot of clubs advertising on their twitter feeds and websites so taking it quite seriously.

So the previously mentioned tournament ended in e-sports players facing off in matches that missed the point of the tournament’s intentions.

Fortunately the creators have given it a second shot called the “Stay Intertoto Cup” and have a few big names playing with James Maddison and Andros Townsend featuring. It seems to be growing every day and hopefully we will see some more representation from some of the bigger stars.

The money raised by the tournament goes towards the NHS so a worthy cause. Also the betting companies are trying to make some money out of it. Will be interesting as I have no idea how they will be able to predict the odds!

I am a non football person except for World Cup/Euro Cup (and even then last time it was just fangirling over Gareth Southgate's lovely waistcoat)... but my family is full of Arsenal mega fans and season ticket holders (we live near the stadium) so they tried to explain it to me. Basically a bunch of clubs got together to create an elite exclusive league for some of the top teams, and that completely spoils things for smaller teams and goes against football's origins as a local/community game where underdogs can climb to the top of leagues... and then the people who made this decision pretty much said they just did it for the money?? I think?? And they managed to make everyone upset (Arsenal is one of the teams who joined the ESL and my family was upset).

Am I right? This is me attempting to understand football drama.

I was trying to figure out how different it was from the dumb NFL/XFL thing over here. Didn't fully understand the "rich get richer/elite get elite-er" aspect of it!

The crux of it was they were creating a new competition for the wealthiest clubs without possibility of relegation which would only make them wealthier. There’s already financial inequality across football.

For the non English sides driving it they were pointing out that winning the champions league was less financially rewarding than being promoted from the championship (the league below the English premier league). So felt a new competition was needed.

The fact that some of 6 clubs in the UK involved aren’t even in the top 6 in the premier league also made people upset. Personally I was hoping if it did go ahead that the teams involved got a substantial points penalty so the end of the season would see West Ham or Leicester winning the league and Spurs/Arsenal in a relegation battle.

All very amusing for me as a fan of a championship team.
