Disney Animated, Ranked

Post by duskvstweak »

After listening to the Aladdin episode of C&R, and with that movie and the Lion King remake happening, I thought it might be a good time to share our favorite Disney Animated films. Go top 5 or 10 or however you like.

Mine is as follows

1. Aladdin
2. Tarzan
3. Pinocchio
4. Alice in Wonderland
5. Lion King
(6-10 is where it gets arbitrary for me)
6. Beauty and the Beast
7. 101 Dalmatians
8. Emperor's New Groove
9. The Sword in the Stone
10. Little Mermaid

We went to Disneyland Paris in April so as part of educating my 4 year old son regarding all things Disney I bought the entire collection!

It’s interesting to revisit them and view them from both his perspective and from my own as a 35 year adult. My main surprises were how some of my treasured favourites were a bit, well, rubbish.

Not sure on my list just yet.

1. Tangled
2. Wreck-It Ralph
3. The Lion King
4. Zootopia
5. Frozen
6. The Emperor’s New Groove
7. Hercules
8. The Jungle Book
9. The Sword In the Stone
10. The Black Cauldron.

There’s actually a good number of them I’ve not watched, and if you also included Pixar stuff the list would probably be quite different.

I liked Black Cauldron well enough. It felt like it should have been a Don Bluth film, though. A real interesting aside for Disney. I wouldn't mind them taking more chances like that these days.
