Mr J - I suspect this may be you mate, but is there anyway that won't break the forum that we can increase the pixel count for posted images on the board ??

Currently its maxed at 1000 either horizontal or vertical, which means I have to re-size almost everything I post and the quality is nerfed.

You used to be able to then set the image to scale to the boards, so that it doesn't stretch out all the post but the image would retain it's quality.

Anyway, just something I've been thinking about for ages so thought I'd mention it.

Cheers.

Where are you hosting them? I use this website and not had an issue, I think it automatically resizes them maybe?

https://imgbb.com/

(It could also just happen to be I've not uploaded anything wider than 1000 pixels, but I've uploaded photos from my phone which I'm sure are higher).

I'm using Imgur mate, I've tried that system you use and I couldn't get it to work for me.

Yeah, perhaps it re-sizes it for you, on average I'd say I have to half the resolution to get it to fit into the forum requirement for pictures, which works, it just takes a while longer to do and is half the resolution.

Ah that's a bummer it wouldn't work. I'm using an Android phone if that makes any difference? On that site I linked you can set it so you post a thumbnail and clicking it takes you to a full res picture too.

Yeah, it might be that actually, as everything I use tends to be iOS based.

I guess you can use [img width=1000/] tags but I've not tried it yet...

Ah, right yeah, got you.

If that works and I don't have to edit all my photos manually in imgur one by one that would be great.

Okay, I've adjusted the setting to allow 1920x1080, we'll see if this causes any issues or not and adjust accordingly.

I used to be able to link images direct from twitter using the img tag, but now the post spins for a few minutes then errors with ‘unable to determine the size of the image’.

Links like this:

How are you embedding? I’m doing (img)url(/img)

(Replace the braces with square brackets). It won’t let me preview the post.

I guess it might only be previewing that’s broken, I usually do a preview when I posting images so I don’t accidentally post something huge.

Busted on my end as well. I could neither preview nor post the twitter image directly.

This 1920x1080 pic I can post just fine, however:

Very strange. :|

Where are you trying to post from, your phone or a desktop?

I tested the preview on the image I posted above and it worked fine.

Me, desktop.

I tested this one (506x284), and that one (1200x630), and they didn't work either (preview and/or submit). Which means it's not an issue with the size restriction, twitter pics are just completely busted on my end.

Are there any link domain restrictions for us members that wouldn't affect your account, perhaps? Some other type of filter?

None that haven't been in place since day one, the only thing I changed was the maximum height and width for images, nothing more.

I'll do some more digging to see if there could be another reason for it, if not I'll change it back to what it was and see if the problem persists then.

I would ask to try with an image of your own, I wonder if there might be some security aspect of twitter preventing the reposting of someone else's images but I'm unaware of any such thing.

It may well depend on that particular person's Twitter settings, perhaps?
