I got very excited upon discovering full episodes of the entire run of The Mary Whitehouse Experience and the Newman and Baddiel show on YouTube.

It's aged terribly. This was the funniest thing in the world when I was 15.

(And if they could shoehorn other "Deadwood" cast members into Mando series 3 that would be appreciated).
They already did! W. Earl Brown (Dan Dority) also played the Weequay bartender in the same episode
What!?

I'll have to break out the canned peaches and watch it again!

Having listened recently to Daniel Pemberton's incredible score for the documentary Rising Phoenix on Netflix without any prior knowledge of the film itself, I decided to sit and watch it last night and found it to be inspirational, thought-provoking and genuinely affecting. I'd highly recommend taking 105 mins of your time to watch it if you haven't already.

Started this three times now and never made it past the third or fourth episode. I've enjoyed what I watched, but for whatever reason have never managed to stick with it.

I was in the mood for a day-in-the-life style mafia piece, something like Goodfella's or Casino. It's scratched that itch so far.

Interesting you mention Goodfellas there - I've always considered it one of my favorites, one of the all time greats. I watched it with my son a couple of weeks ago for the first time in at least ten years, and honestly, I felt seriously underwhelmed. I don't know why, I've always loved the film, but on this viewing, it just didn't really do it for me. I wonder if maybe I've seen it too many times, or whether I've changed, or whether it was just that specific time and place, but if that had been the first time I'd ever seen it, honestly, I don't think I'd have rated it all that much. Really weird, and I don't think I've ever had that before with a film.

Incidentally, my son said he really enjoyed it, but I'm never quite sure whether he actually means it or just wants to please his dad. He's never said he didn't like a film we've watched together...

Completely brilliant show. I hope you enjoy it! I remember marathoning every single episode with my dad the month before I started university. He even downloaded the recipes to make Sopranos food (and when James Gandolfini died a few years ago cooked a "memorial" ziti).

I finished my "Deadwood" rewatch and finally watched the 2019 film (which I hadn't seen before). I hate to say this because I know how much work and love was put into it and how difficult it was to get the team back together to make it, and how it was a love letter to the fans, but I was a bit disappointed. Probably my fault for going straight from the show to the film. It felt a bit too neat and... nice? I'm not sure what it was but something just felt missing. It had its moments though. But I preferred the ending to the original series, rushed though it was.

I enjoyed the first two episodes of "WandaVision". MCU films/shows are always better when they're allowed to feel a bit different and distinctive.* It's Disney, so I know the experimental feel is a bit of an illusion and everything has most likely been rigidly controlled and every decision has gone through a zillion commitees, but I guess that's the cost of being part of such a tonally consistent series of film and TV stories (and why some MCU films can feel a bit bland and samey in the name of that consistency). Love the pitch perfect period sitcom details and the freaky David Lynch vibes, though - the latter of which is something I never thought I'd say about a Disney show.

* (Guardians of the Galaxy, Thor: Ragnarok, Iron Man 3, the first Avengers film when getting together all these supes from very different films still felt novel, Black Panther etc are all top drawer MCU films for me for this reason)

What a brilliant idea! Eat and drink along with Sopranos.

Reminds me of Edible Cinema. You’d go into a cinema and be given a tray with numbered boxes. During the film numbers appeared in the corner of the screen to tell you what to eat or drink next. Lots of alcohol and disgusting tastes but great fun. Saw a Romeo and Juliet one at BAFTA Headquarters with the poison being a vial of absinthe (I think).

They're always eating in that show! It's impossible to watch without feeling hungry (ditto watching "Mad Men" making you want a drink). There was an official Sopranos cookbook but I think it was out of print by the time we first watched the show :-(

Edible Cinema sounds amazing. I would love to do something like that. Especially for a movie with lots of good food like "Eat Drink Man Woman" or "Ratatouille" (...maybe less so for a movie like "Silence of the Lambs").

What is this Edible Cinema and how I have I never heard of it. Just finished the first season and I'm desperate for some baked ziti.

Less cool than the Sopranos, but when I watched through Cougar Town last year, it did get me wanting to get into wine.

I've watched the first few episodes of Superstore, which is a US sitcom, recently added to Netflix. Whilst it doesn't seem to reach the heights of the likes of The Office and Parks & Rec, which would probably be it's closest comparison, it's early days and the episodes I've watched have been entirely palatable and raised a few smiles.

I say early days, it's on like it's 5th season or something, I just mean I've only seen a few episodes so far. It's got terrific scores on Rotten Tomatoes, mind.

If you haven’t watched Star Trek: Lower Decks, you should go and watch it.

It’s essentially Star Trek filtered through Rick & Morty. It’s rude, sarcastic, self referential, bloody and very, very funny.

My GF and I binged through the whole season last weekend and it’s utterly brilliant

So... I might have stopped watching the series midway into Season 3...
Spoiler: show
the Tracy getting beaten to death was too much for me. I don't think I can do anything worse than that.

Oof yeah, that's understandable. It does have interesting plot implications but it's a hard watch for sure.

I had a similar experience watching season 4 of "The Wire" (had to keep taking breaks between episodes because it was so bloody depressing), and also "Deadwood" season 2 (
Spoiler: show
the first time I got to the episode where whatshisface kills the women in Joanie's brothel. It's a great episode and I don't mind dark plotlines but I was going through some real life emotional stuff at the time and it was all a bit Too Much. I took a break for a about a year before I went back to the show!

I'd def recommend Community for a similar vibe to The Office and Parks & Rec. Some of the episodes are a little out there, definitely, but overall it follows a solid plot. https://onplanners.com/templates/free-p ... templates There's a good range of ages, diversity, mainly lower middle class.

Is anyone else watching "WandaVision"? As a Marvel fan who was always slightly underwhelmed by Wanda and Vision in the MCU movies, this show makes my heart happy. It's my favourite MCU thing in a while - really entertaining and such a cool premise. And the cast is A+. I love Kathryn Hahn and Randall Park. And Elizabeth Olsen is great as Wanda.

I gave up on "Agents of SHIELD" and "Agent Carter" fairly early on and never really got into the Netflix Marvel stuff because I didn't have Netflix when they were being made and it seems the MCU is trying to disown them? (although I've heard "Jessica Jones" is worth a watch), but if "WandaVision" is any indication about how the Disney+ MCU shows are going to go, I'm cautiously optimistic for the others.
