As like every other year, it doesnt necessarily need to be ten, just the games you've played that were released in 2024 in the order which you rate them. I think i just snuck in with completing 10 from 2024 so im just rating them.
Annoyingly ran out of time but id say Silent Hill 2 remake and Dragons Dogma II would have been high on here if id got round to them
10. Hellblade II.
9. Age of Mythology Retold.
8. Nobody Wants to Die.
7. Black Ops 6.
6. Alone in the Dark.
5. Still Wakes the Deep.
4. Space Marine II.
3. Stellar Blade.
2. Indiana Jones and the Great Circle.
1. Black Myth Wukong.

Re: Top Ten 2024
Hmm...
1. Balatro
2. Indiana Jones & The Great Circle
3. CoD: Black Ops 6
Genuinely don't think I've played any other 2024 games!
EDIT: Oh actually, Llamasoft: The Jeff Minter Story. That's my number one, even though it's really an interactive documentary of Jeff's games (which are mostly fully playable up to a certain point in time).

Re: Top Ten 2024
Loved these two
1. Indiana Jones and the Great Circle
2. Prince of Persia: The Lost Crown
Big gap down to
3. Astrobot
4. Helldivers 2
5. Balatro
Which were all very good but solid 8s. Then a few random things I liked less, such as
6. Elden Ring: Shadow of the Erdtree
7. Arranger
8. Legend of Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom (2/3s through)
9. Interaction isn't explicit
10. Thank goodness, you're here!
Watched my daughter play Botany Manor through which was nice. Enjoyed the lengthy Stellar Blade demo but not enough to buy the game full price. Not sure if Strands on the NYTimes counts, but that's been fun too.
Two good remasters. TLOU2, which is barely improved but I played for the first time and adored. And Tomb Raider 1-3, the first of which I loved.

Oh man, i forgot about The Lost Crown, will have to stick that on my must plays for 2025. I get the grading system your going with mate, after my top 4 there is a massive drop on my list but still wanted to stick the rest on there too.

Re: Top Ten 2024
For my tastes it's been a mid year for games, no 10s but my top 3 would be 9s. I am quite early into Indy so that might jump up the rankings but I can already tell it's definitely in my top 10
1. Prince of Persia: The Lost Crown
2. Astrobot
3. Balatro
4. Tactical Breach Wizards
5. Call of Duty: Black Ops 6
6. Indiana Jones and The Great Circle
7. Kunitsu Gami: Path of the Goddess
8. Tri breaker
9. Suicide Squad
10. The Legend of Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom

2. Astrobot
3. Balatro
4. Tactical Breach Wizards
5. Call of Duty: Black Ops 6
6. Indiana Jones and The Great Circle
7. Kunitsu Gami: Path of the Goddess
8. Tri breaker
9. Suicide Squad
10. The Legend of Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom

Re: Top Ten 2024
Couldn't do a top ten because I only have PS5 these days and not played so many new games. Very much looking forward to Switch 2 and getting stuck into my digital library again (gave my Switch to family member before realising Switch was 90% of what I play).
1. FF7 Rebirth
I really loved Remake, despite the narrative gobbledygook and padding. It was the realisation of a mid-90s dream, sincerely. I loved the characterisation and combat and areas like Wall Market, Seventh Heaven and Shinra HQ were fantastic, just blew me away how well they brought those little glimpses of the world to life. I also really enjoyed the Jessie's home stuff, lovely little development and atmosphere. Nevertheless, it felt hampered by the fairly limited scope of only covering the Midgar section. I was also very excited by how it ended because they basically blew open what their remake would and could be. While I totally understand why this dismayed some people, for me it's the most interesting thing they could have done.
Rebirth blew it out of the water for the same reason. Pretty much all of the major areas from the original were expanded and elevated and enriched with what must have been a colossal budget. They refined a lot about Remake, combat was better, side quests were generally better, fewer corridors and just packed it with STUFF. I understand why plenty of people found it a drag but I just took that open world fetch and collect stuff as I felt like it. Probably similar to most, my interest in completing every area dwindled as I got closer to the end but I never felt like it was a slog because I just did the bits that interested me. Arriving in the likes of Cosmo Canyon genuinely brought tears to my eyes and I loved what they did with Costa del Sol and Junon, all of it really. The character stuff was also more interesting and it was one of the few times I've actually found a game consistently funny, in a particularly Japanese way. Red in the sailor suit playing cards was a highlight. It's ridiculous and stupid but cracked me up.
Again, I also loved what they did with the ending and cliffhanger. A lot of confusing nonsense in there, of course, but I found it all rather moving and it's once against left me intrigued as to where it will go and how it will finally resolve. Also, soundtrack of the year by a mile.
2. Astro Bot
I've still not finished this. I think the level design is great, the throwaway brilliant ideas are up there with Nintendo (as everyone has said) and it's clearly made with an enormous amount of love. I just don't find it very enjoyable to control, it's quite stilted and slow and floaty. It's precise enough but feels very rigid. It feels like a PlayStation platformer, for want of a better phrase. There are so many wonderful little touches, like all the physics and stuffs and sound effects and visual flourishes which make the moment to moment more enjoyable but running and jumping fundamentally feels stiff and unsatisfying. Some of the power ups help add some fluidity but there are plenty which also feel quite clunky and even worse than the default movement.
A fantastic effort, lots of imagination, love and care but it's more like the best ever Jak and Daxter game than coming close to Mario.

1. INDIKA
That's it. Of the 37 games I started and finished this year, that's the only 2024 release I played.
However, my son did buy and enjoy:
1. Little Kitty, Big City
So there's his 2024 releases "list" as well.
