100 Yen - Documentary on the Japanese Arcade

this should be fascinating, I'm hoping (if funds allow) to go to Japan next year, or the year after and can't wait to sample a japanese arcade.

Hopefully this doc will be out for download or to get on blu ray pretty soon as it just debuted at PAX

Sounds great, cheers for the heads up.

Can anyone recommend any other games related documentaries? (Other than The King Of Kong which was brilliant).

I didn't watch it but wasn't there a Tetris documentary on the BBC recently?

Leon named the two that immediately came to mind.

There's Indie Game The Movie which is obviously pretty new (Fez, Braid, Uper Meat Boy)

Frag, which has a focus on FPS games and Jonathan 'Fata1ity' Wendel

Get Lamp which can be found on YouTube: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LRhbcDzbGSU

It's a life long dream to go to Tokyo, the best arcade I've ever seen was in Kuala Lumpur on my honeymoon. We we're in Times Square one of the biggest shopping centres in KL and they had the biggest arcade I've ever seen must've been well over 200 cabinets and a very japanese style. Every shopping mall we went into had an arcade. I sat and played Street Fighter 3 on a large cabinet and got challenged/hammered by a Malaysian kid. I miss those days over here I really do. That Documentary looks fantastic can't wait to check it out

I was lucky enough to play in a load of Japanese Game Centers in 2006.

Another gaming doc coming soon is http://www.frombedroomstobillions.com/, about the British industry from the 80's until now.
I actually helped fund this one. A little tiny bit.

That does look like a good film to watch. you can never have to much footage of japanese arcades. I really wish they were like that over here still.

I look forward to taking lots of pictures and play some games myself when im in Japan next year.

Indie Game: The Movie is now available to watch on Netflix US (not sure about the UK).

To get US Netflix via a UK subscription use the easy-to-follow instructions here: http://tunlr.net/

I was pleasantly suprised when I looked at that link that offered a free service, as I currently use unblock US (still only just over £3 a month) but on closer inspection it seems they are shortly dropping Netflix support because of number of users. Shame.

Oh, that's a pity. There are still other such services available for free however (I believe).

I've just changed my settings on my Xbox. If you search on YouTube it's fairly easy to do.

Wasn't entirely sure where to plop this but i'm excited!

Indie Game: The Movie gets DLC, adding 100+ minutes of short films and epilogues.
